Whenever we Think about Darjeeling then the kanchenjunga capped with white snow, cool weather and sunrise magenta scene from Tiger Hills come close to our eyes. Very few people know that Darjeeling us not only famous for Tea, Tourism and Timber, but is also known for the good Boarding English medium schools. In total Darjeeling District there are more than 500 schools and out of them 78percent are the self funded Institutions. One among those Self funded esteemed Institution or school is Saint Paul's school which is located at Jalpahar( highest point) in Darjeeling.
The school was founded by Bishop Foss Westcott in kolkatta in the year 1823 and later on In 1864 it was shifted to Darjeeling. During that time the school had only 31 boarders and few scholars.
This school is a boys school and is affiliated to the ICSE Board. Recently they have upgraded to Higher secondary ( +2) otherwise they had only up-to class 10. The school conducts entrance examination in the month of September for the admission of new students.
The fees structure is bit high, it is around 3-4 lacs per annum but the quality of education and discipline they provide to the students is in no comparison to the fees they charge. The students will get a very nice avenue in this school to explore himself. The alumuni Associations of this school are so much concerned about the conservation of antique culture of this school. Those who and were related to this school, they wish themselves to call as Paulites.
The student strength is not so big in numbers, They take only the numbers to whome they can provide one to one guidance. Once in a week the school administrator takes the students for outing.
All kinds of extra-curriculum activities like Football, Basketball, Table Tennis, LawnTennis, Music, Dance, Swimming etc classes are provided and for each sport they have appointed a coach.
Every year the students comes with a flying colors in their ICSE and ISC board exams. The infrastructure of the school is student friendly and the fresh air and organic surroundings always keeps the student exuberant.
The students are usually from the different countries of the world , so are the teachers. The cultural exchange between the students have proven to be beneficial for them in the life after their school completion.
I would suggest the parents whom can afford the finance to choose St.Pauls for their children's in order to make them educationally, morally and socially educated.
If I won't rate it 5 stats then I believe I will be doing a huge injustice to this esteemed institution.
