Everybody by now know what it is to get caught in a credit card mania.. many have gone virtually mad trying to find out the working procedure of these credit card companies. How much charges they deduct and for what and when they will change their plans and schemes no one knows.


Yet the repeated phone calls, the mall culture, and not to mention online shopping is what leads us to the doors of the credit card providers. We are at their mercy once our card reaches our hands till then they treat us as Gods. Many stories are being told about credit card frauds and the treatment for credit card debt. But recently I had a very bad experience after I applied for a credit card. Well, when I joined work recently my salary account had few free benefits like demat account and credit card.


So I applied for a credit card just because it said "free" with my bank account. I was made to sign in some 50 places and asked for identity proof, phone numbers and references. At this point I should confess that I did feel very proud especially as my office staff noticed me applying for a credit. I didn’t know then that they were looking pathetically at me. I requested for a speedy delivery of the card as I was going abroad in 10 days time. The agent gave lots of hope and promised me I will gt it cleared in a week. After one week I received several calls in the name of verification and I wasnt alone.


My office peon, receptionist, (maybe my boss too) my home, my husband(whom I hd referred) everyone received at least oe call daily to confirm if I existed. It was so embarrassing but then I thought they had a point as they need to be very careful to avoid future non payments. I thought it was their duty. The 10th day arrived and I even came back after a 10 day trip still no sign of my credit card. When I enquired I received a reply stating that my signatures didnt match and so I was to go through the same proceedure once again. I agreed and then another agent came by and got the signatures and ID proof yet again. Again the same phone calls to all directions and same questions. If I knew all this I could have hired an answering machine.. the calls went on for another week by which time I got so irritated that I shouted at the person who called me. He apologized and asked me to submit my proof for the third third time. ’


Thats it, I couldn’t take it any more and so I hung up saying that if you can give me the card using the two time proofs I provided then fine if not I asked them to go to hell nd that I was n longer interested in their card. After 10 days I received mails from the bank to my home and office address stating that the card application was reject and the reason stated was " Applicant cannot be communicated"
