I have had two encounters of Standard Chartered Bank’s Credit Card and both have been very horrendous to say the least. Off late I recd. calls after calls to get enrolled. They told me there would be no charges for first year and if I did not use it. Then I received a Emirated Stanchart card. I called their office and asked them to discontinue this card. Got confirmation from them that I should just cut the card and throw it away if I did not want to use it and there would be no charges. Now I receive a bill of Rs. 2500/- for services offered? When I complained they are demanding the same and saying these are for the services I have used and need to pay up?
My earlier experience with them dates to about eight years back. I was using their card and it was all going fine. Then one fine day I received a service charge in my bill. I protested as I had not used any chargeable services. I stopped using the card and informed them about the same. I still continued to get their bills with huge interest amount. They continued to charge interest on the interest and send the bills. Then I began getting calls and the calls continued to get worse for about 6 years after I stopped using the card and then guy on the other side began to threaten me. Well it was good that it did not reach to a point that initiated me to go to the police, however it has scared me to such a point that I decided never to use standard chartered card.
