This credit card(Manhattan Platinum Credit Card), has received a lot of popularity in the Indian Market. They promise high credit limit, and lots of extra features. They also call it as the International Credit Card, which I believe can be used in countries abroad also.
I have been using this card for more than a year now. I have never defaulted of any payment, and have maintained a good credit history. When I came to US, and wanted to use this card for my expenses, which I greatly required, the credit card didnt accept the payment. It also did not give any reasons, why the payment was rejected. I was so embarissed, since I am more than 100% sure that I have remained well within my credit limit. The worse thing is that no reason is given, and the payment is not accepted. I didnt even receive any email. I had to use my HDFC credit card to bail me out of the situation, which worked well.
I send an email to the customer care department, and there is no reply from them. They were even not sensitive to respond to me with the apology or some reason. I will stop using the Manhattan services. There is no point giving 400 odd rupees to them as service charges, when there are plenty of companies offering free credit cards.
I would not recommend this card to anyone.
Updates to my review:
It is horrible to use this card in US. My previous transaction, the Standard C people used the most expensive exchange rate possible. Even the people in airport dont charge that high exchange rate. They call it the international card, but it is a disaster to use this abroad.
The details:
Current exchange rate going: Around 44 Rs to a Dollar.
Most of the Credit Card companies include service charges. have an exchange rate of 44.5 to 45.5(approx).
Stan C exchange rate: 46.97 rupees to a dollar.(which is ridiculous).
I am not using this card anymore, and when I am back in India, I am submitting this card of mine.
