Today in the competitive day and age, thanks to technology and internet, businesses have to compete for customers. I was all excited to renovate my kitchen and had started my research on modular kitchen units. We attended the various exhibitions and displays in the city and short listed few based on the product and pricing. After few calls for consultation and design we contracted Parth Kitchen located in Kandivili.
We were happy with the design and the time frame that was provided for the completion by the designer Anthony. The owner Navneet Damani asked that the amount be paid in advance for the project. Having contracted work before and been burnt several times, I disagreed to pay the entire sum until the work was completed and that will hold the 10% of the sum until the end of the project. I was ready to take my business somewhere else when the owner assured us that their work is of higher quality and that they are confident to deliver it on time. I need not worry. We started with the civil work and then coordinated with the designer Anthony who was to deliver the product on 22nd Nov. While the civil work was on, I confirmed with Anthony a week prior before 22nd Nov for the delivery of the product. He assured me that it was on schedule. Then I called again on 21st Nov to confirm and that’s when he mentioned that the product would take another 4 days and would be delivered on 26th Nov. Although I was upset with the news, I was flexible as it was matter of 4 more days. I waited all day on the 26th for the product and did not hear back from Anthony. Finally I made the call only to find out that they were not going to deliver until I made all the payment. He also asked me to pay cash. At this point I was angry because I was paying tax on the product and according to the Income tax directive any sum over Rs 25, 000 has to be by cheque. Then the owner called me and we agreed on the cheque payment. Some trolleys were delivered and the fittings were to begin the next day for two days. I issued the cheques along with one cheque for labor charges was post dated on the day the work would be completed(01st DEC). The shutters were expected the next day on the 27thNOv. While the trolleys were fitted the shutters were delivered and there was delivery challan to be signed for the delivery. I was not at home and I did not authorize my daughter to sign. My daughter asked the person to wait for me to sign the challan. The delivery supervisor called the owner stating this and the owner started threatening my daughter that if she does not sign the challan he would take the items back. The items that was already paid for. Meanwhile the work continued. I had asked for few additions in the design like a slot for the chopping board and the designer kept saying it will be delivered tomorrow 28th Nov. I had to call again and that’s when he said it is not available and that would take two days. I had also purchased the hob for the kitchen and that connection would take another day i.e 30th Nov as we needed a gas pipe that was more than two feet. There was no sign of the person the next day and neither did the Anthony deliver the slot for chopping board and it was 01st Dec. I was doing all the calling around and told Anthony that if things are not completed that I would stop payment on the check that covered the labour charges. Frustrated with incomplete kitchen where the hob was fitted but was’nt functional and with all the false commitments I put stop payment on the last check. I then called the technician from my gas company to fix the hob temporarily and shelled out another Rs1000/ . It was 07th Dec still no sign of the contractor from Parth Kitchen and no calls to check the status. It was when the check was cancelled the phone calls started coming in and people running around to complete the work. The hob was fitted and functional on 09th Dec. If I would not have put a stop payment it would have been me who be running around.
I would not recommend Parth Kitchen to any of the friends or family and will take this matter up to the consumer commission.
Beware of Parth Kitchen= dishonest business with poor workmanship, lack of commitment and ethics. A total rip-off!
