I had taken a Star HealthStar Medi Classic Family Package on 04.05.2011 bearing Policy No. P/141126/01/2012/000358 with a yearly premium of Rs. 2559 for a sum assured of Rs. 2 Lakhs(Rs. 50000 each for 4 members of a single family). After aishwaryasingh23ing 3 Premiums, I got a Renewal Notice for the year 2014-2015 and the premium mentioned was Rs. 6966/-.
When I contacted the customer care(Hebbal) a lady by name Netra said it can be due to age limit and since she was not sure asked me to call up later. I then mailed to the given email id. hebbal@starhealth.in for clarifications for which I got a immediate call back and the concerned person after going through my doubts said that the increase in the premium is due to increase in hospital charges and other expenses.
My doubt here is . if the hospital charges are increased why will it effect Star Health since they will be aishwaryasingh23ing only the agreed amount of upto Rs. 50, 000/- each on hospitalization and anyhow the rest of the cost has to be borne by us.
On my not agreeing for the reasons he gave me, he said that they never said that it is a life long policy and the premium amount is going to be a fixed one. T
his is a yearly policy and they have rights to change the premium amount as and when found necessary(which in this case is more than double the premium amount I had started with) and if I am not able to aishwaryasingh23 the premium amount of Rs. 6966/- I can cancel the policy and they will not return the money paid by me so far.
I now agree that this a best way of making people fools, since I feel bad I had paid three premiums so far amounting to Rs. 7677/- without claiming any benefits so far and since my budget does not allow me to aishwaryasingh23 the huge premium, I am forced to cancel the policy.
FRIENDS, PLEASE BE AWARE AND CHECK BEFORE TAKING ANY POLICY SINCE THEY ARE SITTING THERE TO CHEAT INNOCENT PEOPLE LIKE US.
