The name Steve Waugh itself brings all the great cricketing moments to mind and of course, all are related to Tugga himself... Hes defined cricket like never before, the word aggression means Steve, honesty means his name and the first person who comes to mind when we talk about cricket is that of this legend......
When it comes to selecting his greatest cricketing moments.... these are the instant ones:
The 99 World Cup jus proved what a fantastic cricketer and a great leader Steve is....not that I doubted his abilities at any point ... but the thought of the moment when he murmured to Herschelle Gibbs Son, you just dropped the World Cup still sends a chill down my spine.... How true were those words and coming from this person just made them even more special...
His century of the last ball of the day against the Poms at SCG in 2002 will always be one of the greatest cricketing moments ill ever witness.... I still find it hard to believe the amount of pressure he had from the selectors at that time....but thats Steve for you....Grit and determination personified....
But the moment which just stands out from his entire career for me is the one that wasnt really happy but here it is... When the Aussies lost to India in the second test match of the series in the subcontinent in 2000, they had their 16-match winning streak terminated(which was like a spear through my heart)..... during the post-match press conference, there was Steve acknowledging the Indians for their win and when it came to talking about the end of the long chain of wins, he said All good things have to come to an end!! with a tear in his eye....That image of him is still with me and will alwayz be....It was the image of a man so gracious even in defeat, and not all can be as such.....
I appreciate him for all that hes given to the world of cricket so far and for doing his best as and when it counts most.... GO STEVE ... Ull alwayz be with us even after your retirement.... Good luck now n 4ever..
