“ Cricket …Cricket on the ground …who is the most reliable on the ground”
There is only one answer to this magic saying it is “Mr Cool” Steve Waugh.
During my last review on cricket, I had spoken about the wrong sledging attitude of the Australians and was particularly flaked by most of the members. But that doesnt mean I am writing this review to cover my earlier review, but this review is to give full credit to STEVE WAUGH .Here keeping the sledging behind (No Doubt, I have seen Mr Cool also sledging in a match between Australia and S’lanka at Melbourne) I would like to speak about the most consistent batsmen in the world Mr Cool “Steve”
Steve Waugh has been the most cherished player in any terms of the cricket. They way he plays his game, no one can come in front of him, when it comes to playing a Captains knock or being the most reliable batsmen.(Once I heard that Dravid was called Mr Reliable, if that is true than I am President of the United States. You can rely on Dravid on one thing being in the ground for whole day and scoring 10 runs in 200 balls)
I used to love Steve play in the early days when he used to ball his medium pace along with this Twin bros Mark Waugh. I have never seen him losing patience during a match, whether they are loosing or winning the game. He was like our S.Ganguly who with his medium pacer sometimes comes out with wicket(But again Ganguly can never come in close to what Steve Waugh is). Whenever Steve used to come to bowl than expect the unexpected, he will ball his genuine medium pacer and take a wicket when Australia needed him most. If there is long partnership going on, then comes Mr cool and you have a wicket.
When it comes to batting no one can come close to him whether it is a One Day game or a Test Match. Scoring more than 8, 000runs in the Test match is not a feat everybody can achieve. He is not a great fast and exciting player but he is definitely one of the class players. He doesn’t play like Sachin (fast and aggressive) but he has his own style of playing. No doubt it’s no point comparing these 2 players because both of them are class in their own style.
Take his innings in the World cup against the Pakistan or today’s knock against India, he has truly shown that he is their when Australia needs him more.
My favourite cricket player is no doubt Vivan Richards but Steve is also one of my all time favourites.
