ive been a member of this group for the last 1-2 months and it has been realllllllly verrrrrrry helpful to me.
gav my GRE today : 2160
V - 640 A - 720 Q - 800
i gave my gre today and the analytical was tuff.................no 3d questions asked but all the 2d problems were tuff and twisted.
I entered the exam room at around 1 pm and went thru the tutorial and some 21 steps that I went thru unnecessarily. Plz dont go thru that section coz its a waste.
First there was the anal section , 1st q was LR - sort of ok , , , not to tuff but then I had a game and I never ever spent so much time in my life over any game that I gave for this game - around 15-17 mins for 5 q’s .
Plz note : be calm at all times ........do not try to see the time again and again (i did that and believe me it was a nerve wrecking experience) . Just try to stay calm and check ur first 7-8 questions twice b4 clicking.
As a result I could complete only 26 questions and then click click click........
i was really suprised to see 720 coz I was expecting 600
then came verbal after 60 sec break and I must say god was happy on me 2day...........all my friends got RC as thier 2nd question and out of the first 15 questions, 9 of them would invariably be RC’s and RC was my weakeeeeeeeeeeest point. fortunately I got my first RC as my 10th question.
Verbal was never this easy...........all the words were straight frm barrons and were realllllly reallly easy.
Then I went for a break but came back after 4 mins and reorganised myself waiting for another anal section(hopefully).
Next was quant and I must say that the quant level is also high but not as tuff as some of them describe.......
After quant came the research section and I really got dejected coz I really wanted another anal.
but then I somehow managed to keep hold of my self , exited from the research section and clicked ’’Report Score’’
and what I saw was really really (i hav no words u see!!!!)
My preparation included barrons wordlist , Princeton s/w (used to score around 2100-2200) and kaplan (1960-2020-2080) and powerprep (2000 and 2120). I belive that powerprep is the best.
I must say that ’’norman lewis - word power made easy’’ is also good . I started my vocab preparation with this(did this in 4-5 days) and then went on to barrons (did 45 wordlists)
plz giv atleast 2 months for barrons . I did barrons in 15 days and my life those 15 days was a living hell . I wasted my entire 5th sem doing nothing and actually studied only for 40 days.
one more tip : dont go for any classes......... they r a waste of money ........u can do GRE urself.
Now I need some help . I need to apply to colleges (for CS) where I hav some chance of getting aid. Can some1 suggest me some good colleges with a possibility of getting aid.
Im doing Information technology engg frm mumbai univ (now in 7th sem)
my average percentage of 1st to 5th sem is 63 %
yet to giv toefl ( can some1 also suggest me how to prepare for toefl)
do I hav any chance of getting any aid?????????
