Are you a 12th standard student?
What are doing on mouthshut then?{just kidding}
But dont take the above line lightly.
If you are a 12th std student of the S.S.C. syllabus of India and that two a science student then you wont take the above line lightly.
I know how much sacrifices one has to make while in 12th...but ultimately its for your own good, isnt it?
Okay. I wont waste your time my dear H.S.C students..Straight to the point now.
I dont know much about C.B.S.E. and I.C.S.E. syllabus and hence restrict myself to H.S.C. {Science}students only
1.Decide: First and foremost decide if you are a PCM{physics, chemistry , maths}
or PCB{physics , chemistry , biology } student.
Once you have decided then read further.
If you are a PCMB student like me then too read further.
- For PCM/ PCMB students:Now you know how important maths is.
Start maths right from the beginning.
Especially derivatives and integration requires good practise.
Be thorough with limits.
Only then you can master derivatives and integration.
I personally feel thatMathematics and statistics by Chitale- Joshi is a good text book.It has covered all types with only a few out of the way problems so that you dont waste a lot of time solving unnecessary types.
If you are a PCM student then refer Sahasrabuddhe-Gawali for biology.It does not dissolve in unnecessary details.It has short and precise explanations.
- PCB/PCMB students:For maths Reliable series by Badgandi{thats my professor }is good.Although you cant rely on this book if you are a M student, its solved examples cover most types and this book is recommended for B students.
For biology, reading Concepts of biologyis a must.It has detailed explanations and is a must read for MH-CET entrance exam too.
4 PCM/PCB/PCMB students: As chemistry and physics are important for all types of students there is no escape from these two.
For physics I recommend Concepts of physics by N.M. Mistry. For those aiming for MH-CET, that additional information in the boxes makes a useful read.For chemistry, Fundamental chemistry by N.M. Thatte
Solve a lot of problems ...If you are thorough with them you will have an edge over those lengthy theory questions in the choice questions.
- English/Hindi: For English, text book{Kumarbharti} is more than enough.Papers set in this language are very easy keeping in mind the vernacular medium students.Dont waste your time referring to additional books {like guides or reliable series}
For Hindi I recommend the guide .I know there are too many questions in this book but just read all and concentrate on general important ones which will help you to memorise the entire story/ poem in few lines.I understand that being a science student one cant waste much time on subjects like Hindi and English.
6.Join good Classes/Test series:These days no one can rely on college tutors . Imagine a class of 120 students. Is it possible for the professors to teach and control so many students.To be frank, I never liked my college tutors except for a couple of them.I bet that all the students of my class had joined classes/tuitions. I dont know if joining these classes is right or not{a debatable issue}but when you are aiming for marks I know no one wants to end up in low marks because of bad tutors.If you are that rare species who has not joined any class{unfortunately} its not late.Even a good test series will keep you motivated throughout the year.
7.Schedule a timetable: I can hear many students complaining that we cant stick to time-tables and stuff like that.But do chalk out one regardless of whether you follow it or not. This will help you in knowing how much you have to cover up in how many days.
8.Solve papers: Start solving first chapter-wise, then 3-4 chapters at a go, then half the portion and then the whole portion.Be thorough with all the Board papers.Many questions are repeated especially in Biology.
Do this only after you have done all your portion once, so that you will get a revision .If you dont manage to write all the papers atleast go through all .Mark the repeated ones.You will get an idea of which are supposed to be revised before the exam day.
9.Discuss: Discuss with your pals and classmates all your questions and fears.Since they are in the same boat they are sure to give you useful advice and tips.
Clear all your doubts with your professors ...if they refuse ask your friends and seniors.
But be sure you clear them.
10.Be cool and prepared: Dont take unnecessary tension.
Whatever you have studied you will surely know that.Have that confidence and write well.
Remember ...those three hours of the exam are those hours which will decide the numbers on your marksheet.Hence be prepared well in advance.
- Last but certainly not the least: Pray!Pray and keep in touch with God!Whatever the case maybe, luck does play some role in exams. Take the Aashirwaad of all your well-wishers and go confidently for your exam.
Friends, my good luck and well-wishes are always with youll.
Study hard and success is guaranteed.
Good luck,
Bonjour{the kid...hehe}
