The Nelson Mandela birthday concert of June 1989 - Dire straits are amongst the first to be invited, no surprise their then. Just to throw the whole emphasis on the band probably wouldn’t be fair. With dazzling performances by the likes of old legends, Meatloaf and Stevie Wonder to name of a few.
But the live rendition of old classics i.e. Sultans of swing, Money for nothing, Walk of life, etc in front of a gasping Wembly crowd was something to behold.
Brothers in arms - second highest selling album of all time, giving way only to Thriller.
That’s a pretty awesome achievement.
