Sumeet is the brand name of Indian Mixie, which is affectionately referred to as Indian Kitchen Machine, in North America. (I am writing this review from Canada!). It is a heavy duty Indian Mixie. Actually, I have two Sumeet mixies. One was a wedding gift from my brother. I have left it in India, for our use during our stay while on vacation. Well, we bought the next Sumeet for our use outside India.
Sumeet takes care of all the grinding work, whether it is dry or wet grinding. You can just depend on it for all your grinding. Having used both the Sumeets, I can guarantee that Sumeet does a wonderful job when it comes to grinding. It is such a popular brand, as you can see it being internationally used across the globe. No wonder Sumeet has been in the market for more than forty years!
Highlights of the machine
First and foremost, Sumeet has an elegantly designed body. It has been designed to save space in your kitchen. Those who already have it will agree with me. It comes with the base unit housing a powerful motor. It also has three jars, one big stainless steel multipurpose jar for wet or dry grinding, another stainless steel jar for whipping, chopping, grating or blending and a small jar for grinding in small quantities.
The single big stainless steel jar is easily detachable. It has a sharp blade you have to be very careful about. They do the fine job of grinding, whether it is dry or wet grinding. The built-in stirrer allows you to mix the ingredients well while grinding.
As an additional bonus, Sumeet has a specially designed safety lock system. The machine will not operate until the lid is closed completely. I think, earlier models didn’t have this feature.
I get spongy idlis!
I find it very useful in grinding all kinds of grains including raw or soaked rice, whole spices, peppercorns, coconut pieces, soaked lentils, and herbs. Who said you can make fluffy idlis only with the grinder? I can assure you that Sumeet does perfect grinding for both idli and dosa or any other item that needs grinding. I make soft idlis in Canada with the help of Sumeet. Only problem I face is with fermentation of the dough. Being a cold place it does not get fermented easily and naturally. I have to preheat the oven for five minutes, turn it off and put on the oven light overnight to get the idli dough fermented. Whatever it is, courtesy Sumeet, I am able to prepare soft spongy idlis. I think that’s wonderful! You can even use it for crushing ice during summer.
Sumeet comes with three years warranty on the motor and one year warranty on all other parts and labour. Sumeets authorized distributor will cover the warranty repairs.
In USA, Sumeet is available for US $175 with free shipping and handling charges. In Canada, it costs CAN $ 225 plus applicable taxes and shipping charges. Of course, we don’t get it in Newfoundland, the place where I live. But, you do get it in Toronto, where almost all the Indian goods are available. May be due to the presence of large numbers of Indian community in that place.
Buy one today!
So folks, if you are seriously thinking of buying a good mixie, you can safely go for Sumeet. Sumeet will never let you down. I am saying this from my own experience. Hope this review will be of use to people considering buying a mixie for himself or herself or as a gift to somebody.
Happy Independence Day to you all! Enjoy your day! Have fun!
P.S. I am really busy today! Please feel free to check out my next review in a couple of days. See you, B4N!
