I have been very happy with the majority of John Grishams books, however after reading this one it left me scratching me head. It was rather boring and to predictable. Unlike the Firm, The Pelican brief and Killing Time it just was flat. I started reading his books about 8 years ago starting with The Firm and I was hooked.
John Grisham is one of the few mystery writers that I know I could buy any of his books and not be embarassed or offended when reading them. I like a good mystery rather it is a murder mystery or medical mystery something that you cannot figure out until the end. It seems like todays writers just want to sell sex and vulgarity. John Grisham can take a story and make it interesting and exciting. a book that you just dont want to put down. This is not one of those books. On to his next one! Hope it is better.
I do recommend his books to anyone who likes mysteries and does not want to read offensive materials. His stance on morals in his life comes through his books and his movies.
Killing Time I think was one of his best. Although this was not the first book of his that I read. I started with The Firm and if you are looking for intrigue, The Firm will hold your attention. The Pelican Brief is as good. His series of books are always interesting because of his previous profession. Being a lawyer he writes his books with a lot of knowledge. What makes his books so interesting is that the books are written so that everyone can understand how the victims feel. People can relate to the majority of the story lines. It is fiction, yet real facts help you relate to the stories.
