Some FAQs regarding the JCP

Title: JCP FAQs

Review: Here are some interesting faqs that every aspiring JCP or Java programmer should know about(or probably already knows.)

  1. WHO CAN CLEAR THE JCP?

Answer:

Anyone who has done enough exam oriented practice, taken up atleast 20 mock tests and gone through the desired cram books can clear it. You dont need to be a programmer or even one project old in Java to clear this exam. Will you believe it, if I said, you dont even need any prior programming language experience to prepare and clear the JCP?

The people who give this exam can be anyone fresh from Bsc Computer science, BE in Mechanical/Civil or any discipline, Fresh NIIT/APTECH/IBM grads or anyone else.

2.WHO CANT CLEAR THIS EXAM?

Answer:

Out of many experiences, I can confidently state MCAs and BE in Computer science who are more than 3-4 Java projects old and who dont believe in the exam oriented approach.

These qualified programmers may have the most deep rooted knowledge regarding Java and advanced Java topics like Servlets, JSP, EJB, Beans and what not.

But they are so much project oriented that they keep using reusable codes and only think in terms of programming flows.

Their indepth knowledge leads them to believe that Sun certified programmer’s exam is all about experience and dabbling with projects in Core java and the distant J2EE cousins.

These are the kinds who often fail despite having the most stable and varied experience in Java.

3.WHO BENEFITTED FROM THE JCP?

Answer:

All computer coaching institutes. This exam was so much popular and hyped that during the golden IT era of 2000, every science /commerce graduate with a JCP was given an H1 visa to the US of A.

’If you were not an MCA/MSc or a BE in Computer Science, Fear not, JCP certification will lead you to the Liberty Land!’

you thought I made that up, No it was a board outside some computer coaching class.:)

The kind of money the personal classes made by coaching students was enormous.

Then there were others hush hush. who wrote this exam in lieu of others with fake ids.

These people were so damn good at passing the exam, they looked for desperate victims, who just wanted the Certification stamp in their resumes at all costs.

Not to mention the testing centers who also minted money, whether the candidate cleared or not, they made a whooping 7000 something with every exam.

4.LAST QUESTION, SHOULD YOU GIVE AND CLEAR THE EXAM?

Answer:

Totally a matter of personal preference. If you are an experienced Java programmer with interesting projects under your belt, maybe you shouldnt even bother.

But, its highly useful for budding java programmers who can show their proficiency in Java with good JCP scores and make first impressions.

To sum up,  a Java certified programmer is always better off than the one who is not, if they both have the same kind of experience. Its upto each person to gauge his/her level and decided how much the certification is going to benfit him/her.

Wishing all the aspiring JCPs the best in their preparations!

Note: My views above were only for the JCP exam, not for the developer exam or any other exam. thanks and adios.
