Missing Sunday!!

Sunday, Is a hindi adaptation from a movie called Anukokunda Oka Roju [Telugu, 2005], which too had a same concept of a ’Missing Sunday’. The movie was an out and out thriller and had no humor, style and the funk which this one’s got. So, No comparisions between the two films. Earlier ’Sunday’ was scheduled to release on 1st Feb’08. As this friday was a vacant call, Only a hollywood movie ’Rambo’ was to be installed to the theatres, To release it it today was a decent bet.

*Plot:

Well, The movie just has a four line plot, which if revealed will spoil the fun and thrill if you get convinced to watch the film. So, If you have decided not to watch this under any circumstances and wish to get the details, then read on.. ~~!!Else, SKIP IT!!~~

Direction:

*Rohit Shetty gives his most prominent work till date. If you were impressed by the good as well as the poor jokes of Golmaal, Then this one’s certainly gonna make you fall of your seats. Shetty gets a 9/10 for flawless execution of a needle thin plot, which is revealed in the very first few minutes of the film. Sunday has been well crafted all over, The look and the feel of the movie is absolutely fresh and no moment in the movie is predictable, what you predict is just too bad. Every next scene you are going to get into a new mystery, a new goof. Cinemetography of the movie is absolultely stunning. The locales shown in the movie are the most croweded areas of Delhi, to name a few Jama Majzid, India Gate, Chandi Chowk. And mind you none of the locations are fake or made in sets. And the most impressive thing, their is absolutely a 360 degree view for every locale without any glimpse of the local crowd watching in a 100 - 150 mts range. Screenplay is competent and dialogues are just too good.

*Performances:

Ajay Devgan is one again effective and proves his versatality. Delivers his part nicely. Ayesha Takia is excellent, natural and competent. Arshad has a same character feel of Golmaal, enacts brilliantly. The show stealer is Irrfan Khan! Simply unbeatable. His every dialogue and one liner is gonna make you laugh like one damn crazy. Mukesh Tiwari is good, Vrijesh Hirjee, Tusshar Kapoor, Esha Deol, Anjana Sukhani, Murli Sharma are too very good. Ali Asgar overacted.

*Positives:

The movie is full of unexpected twists and turns which are most expected. Performances are excellent so is the direction. The locales are well shot. The stunt sequences in the movie are really very good, They do show a good amount of money spent upon. Their are three out and out action sequences in the film each one being competent, and the last one being the best one. Background score is a 10/10.

*Negatives:

The movie loses its pace in the second half, the unwanted and absolutely useless romantic angle is looking to bad. Only 2 songs of 5 are good. One being an item song on Esha and other a dance no. on Tusshar. Missing Sunday rolls in opening credits. The number of characters could have been chopped off.

*Scenes to watch out for:

# Do reach the screen on time, A surprise teaser awaits you :)

# Opening Scene.

# FIR Scene.

# Arshad being bullied by Ayesha, Not completing the taxi fare.

# Bhoot - Bhoot sequence at a mall.

Overall^^.. Sunday is a nice and timepass entertainer, which must be watched for sure along with the family. If you liked golmaal, You’ll love Sunday.. If you loved Golmaal, The WooHoo! to Sunday :))
