DC Talk has really changed the way people have looked at Christian Music. They have taken it and put it alongside mainstream music and have a cool following now. The thing that impresses me the most is that they are still so dedicated to their mission- to introduce Christ to others!
Following up a grammy winning album like Jesus Freak is a tough job and DC Talk has done a good job!!
Although this album is not as great as Jesus Freak, the same amount passion and dedication has gone into this album and is evident.
The music is different. This album has no rappin’!!. That’s a huge change for a band that was hard-core hip-hop and rappin when they entered the music scene.
After a few bars of whispering ’Supernatural’ the album kicks off with the hard It’s killing me now. It took me some time to understand the meaning which I ultimately found in an interview with the band. Cool!!
Dive is just an average song and I tend to skip it... It’s little more electronic and strains my ears a little. But I do find myself humming the tune occasionally when walking to work!!

Consume me is a more melodious fusion of acoustics and more haunting vocals that stresses on what it is to be IN GOD’S PRESENCE. Really meaningful and personal.

The album then hops onto a twisting rollercoaster -So Long - My Friend. This is catchy, hard and really cool. Quite a popular number too... it got good airtime exposure and a cool video put it on the MTV scene. It talks about a friend who leaves you and Christ for worldly success. The message is clear

The mood in the album then changes a bit. The next 2 songs are a little laid back.
Fearless talks about hmm.... the way you lose your fear.

A clear message - God destroys fear.... don’t you want that!!
If you want a sentimental love song and you want it in a Christian album by a Christian artist
Godsend is for you!! A beautiful song of love - I wish I had someone to play it to!! ( Guess that in a few years I will!!)

If you’ve listened to the album, you’ll realize that the tempo has dropped by now (something that didn’t happen in Jesus Freak). But the mood is still upbeat.
The Truth is another slow haunting song with plenty of whispering and soulful https://lyrics.Apparently the song nearly made it into the soundtrack for The X-Files but....

Man... this rocks!!! Since I met you features a great combo of hard guitaring, fun lyrics, great drummin’ that makes you wanna get up and boogie. The lyrics are COOOOOOOL and you’ve gotta listen to it. If you thought the album till the previous song was dying out, this one will wake you up.!!

The song exits abruptly and in swings my favorite number - Into Jesus. Another slow number that proclaims their faith, this song has bold lyrics and a fine blend of great music and vocals which leave you spellbound.

The equivalent of Jesus Freak Supernatural is a heavy rockin’ number that sweeps you of your feet. It’s got powerful vocals and a great guitar sound.

He tells me all is well (it’s supernatural) The album then sobers down again towads it’s end.... Red Letters is an epic of a song in that it is long and has a very sharp mood change in the bridge.

The album then wraps up with a poem narration set to some eerie music There is a Treason at Sea which leads on to the few bars of lilting supernatural repeated over and over again ..... there you are at the end!!!
The songs in Supernatural can be paired up....
There’s a great deal of similarity between Consume Me and Into Jesus. So also So Long and Since I met U have the same kinda music. Godsend and Fearless too have some similarities!!
On the whole DC Talk fans will love this album, but I guess Jesus Freak will always remain my fav DCT album.
