A Value For Money Bike

Hello All Readers,

I would like to share my experience here

1) I was looking for a Bike, with the following requirements a)

Mileage - 60+

b)  Price - around 50K, c) good comfort & handling in terms of weight & pick up d) engine stability e) weight to pick up factor w r t engine smoothness f) ride quality

Since my most of the above requirements would be available in any 100 cc bikes except for the weight to pickup which would be in 125+ or 150 cc bikes, but since they might cost few buck extra so had to compromise on a 100cc bike

Options available and their features

a) Hero Splendor  - All my requirement matches here directly, but I have been seeing, driving(friends, relatives bikes) and feeling this bike since ages, I thought this as a last option, in-fact this would cost around 55K+ on road so slightly backed off with this option.

b) bajaj discoverer - Heard lot about discoverer’s mileage(100), price 43K(on road 50K), and DTSI & other digital features - wanted to zero down because of the above features but want to drive and feel before having it - pros - mileage, price, dtsi, nitrous suspension, looks etc etc . cons - 94cc engine(which may lack pick up & drive if 2 persons around 160 kgs are on the wheels), bajaj’s long term stability bikes and after having the test drive, felt it was good but due to the cons and the bajaj factor thought of looking other bikes.

c) TVS Sport - A decent bike again and having met all my requirements, after test drive felt 100 cc engine, good pick up, drive comfort and stability and good smooth engine and moreover heard it gives good mileage too around 65+ and even it has a less weight of 95 kgs(so easy to handle), price 50k so had a good option in hand.

d) TVS STAR  - another good option withall the requirements met and even a 110 cc engine for more quality . and price 51k with similar mileage of 65kmpl and also felt a comfortable test drive.

e) Suzuki Hayate - Now this is 112cc and after the test drive felt all my requirements met, even the weight to pickup factor toooo. price 49k, said mileage 65+ in city, good comfort & handling & good pickup & most important - silent and smooth as silk engine.

f) Honda Twister - Everything is good with a price of 57K+, a 110cc engine and heard a mileage of 65+ kmpl and honda’s smooth engine. this would be perfect for any youth, unfortunately I had already passed the youth phase of my life .  :(

g) Honda Dream Yuga - nothing much about this since I did not have a chance of test drive but with its specs & features are almost all similar to hayate except for the tubeless tyres, but this would come with a price of 59K+. almost 10k more than hayate.

finalized a) TVS STAR b) Hayate c) Dream Yuga. out of these three I can easily opt out TVS STAR, but tvs star has a ladies handle whereas hayate doesn’t have one, since both suzuki’s & honda’s engine have higher hand. but now confused between hayate & DY.

since I never drove DreamYuga and if Dream Yuga gives a 70 mileage in city and has a great engine but hayate also fits the bill and 10k less in price

I opted for HAYATE .:)

First Experience with Hayate: Got the Bike, enjoyed the silk engine drive in the bangalore city’s traffic.

Now after 300+ km’s here are my findings . pickup is good and even the engine is smooth.  on the wheel . I hear the adjacent bike’s sound rather than my bike’s:) and feel happy about that.

mileage before first service 55kmpl.:) hope should get better after first service . should satisfy my 60+mark.

Gear’s are slightly hard at times. mostly I should get it repaired in a day or two.

Gives good comfort. and even the suspensions are good. easily surpasses decent pot holes.

I will give my other experience’s and other details w r t the bike after the 500 km mark and probably after the first service. but till then I will surely enjoy the bike ride with quality & stability .

And about reliability and other quality stuff - need to ride the bike more & more .

Looks, I have written a lot with only few good detail’s. sorry for your time bosss.

Here’s the update after 2+ months .

Now after riding 1500 Kms, still the engine is quite peppy and smooth, one worrying factor on around 70 kms speed it starts grunting(this should be accepted since it is not a speed bike, this is a commuter bike), and mileage is around 55 KM’s, I drive daily on heavy roads(bangalore old madras road and old airport road) where I travel around 15+15= 30 Kms up and down and shift gears, stop/start the bike merely at 100 mts due to the traffic and signals on this road. Never had a chance to drive on high ways and clean roads without much traffic, so cannot comment on the mileage at these conditions.

Thanks & Regards
