Mellifluous music

Swadesh album has songs which are soft & melodious. One can?t relate to them now but I guess after the movie is released it will catch on big time.

I like the neat ways he has used various drums, beats and mixed them in a mellifluous way. I feel Rahman has put a lot of work in the album. Some parts of the songs do remind of his earlier work but not the whole song.

Some of my friends felt its so typical AR Rahman work ?but then everyone has a particular musical mode.

There are seven songs & 2 instrumental numbers. The two songs that I really like are ....

....... this song which AR Rahman has himself sung. (YEH JO DES HAI MERA)It will be a hit amongst the Indian staying not in India. And will be played on various Indian Melas .Its some how brings out those nostalgic feelings. I really loved that song .The sarangi used in the song is lovely and different. I never recollect listening to sarangi in a not-old song and that too so well mixed.

Another song is............ the Bhajan. (Pal Pal Bhari ). I liked the bhajan in Lagaan too & think this is another great song. In this song there is a debate and finally deciphering the symbolism.

The rest of the songs where fine but I dint find any unique facet of theirs.

3 Yunhi chala chal [ 3/5]

4 Yeh Tara [2/5]

5 Dekho Na [3.5/5]

6 Aashita aashita [3/5]

7 Sawariya [3/5]

But yes there two instrumental versions of the songs which were nice?..

1 the bhajan in flute

2 the Yeh jo desh in sarangi

In nutshell it?s a nice album according to music ??but as far as the lyrics go?. right now??.. they are okay ?somehow they dint appeal me. To get really hitched onto the songs we will have to wait till 17th December when the movie is released.
