Disclaimer: Those who have considered’Taare Zameen Par’ as a children film, Let me make it clear, its’about’ children. Their thinking, their lives. and most of all its about their parents.

*Story:

Ishaan Awasthi [Darsheel Safary]** is an eight year old, who believes life which is fully appreciable with colours, fishes, dogs etc and notices the same not be expected by him by any of his family members nor his teachers. He observes adults to be so much uninterested in such things and their only intrest lies into his performance, studies and neatness all the time. Ishaan fails to follow what’s expected and puts himself and his parents into trouble all the time.

After a series of complaints and faliures in his class and studies; His parents decide to send him to a boarding school to learn the difficulties and find the ways to face them. Things get no better with Ishaan, he starts having home sickness, suffers from the trauma of separation and begins keeping quiet and does not show his interest in anything present there.

Soon, Ram Nikumbh [Aamir Khan] an Art teacher by profession comes into the school. He allows children to follow their heart, do what they think, break the rules they don’t want to follow. All children except Ishaan show interest in such things. Ram soon realises Ishaan is too unhappy and sets off to find out’why’. What follows is slow discovery of finding oneself through the dreams.

*Direction:

*Aamir Khan gives a new face to direction, Flawless. Khan has managed to take out and execute absolutely flawless sequences in one camera brilliantly. The story telling is terrifically done. The boarding school sequences are beautifully shot, The expressions, acts of small children present at the school are shot with’perfect’ precison.

*Performances:

Darsheel Safary as Ishaan Awasthi gives a stunning performance, absolutely flawless this one is really going to make you laugh as well as cry. Tisca Chopra as Ishaan’s Mother does extremely well, watch out for her in the Ishaan’s leaving to boarding school scenes. Vipin Sharma as Ishaan’s Father is competent, though he had nothing much to do. Sachet Engineer as Ishaan’s elder brother is fine and really gives out the seniority felling towards Ishaan really nicely. Rajan [Character’s Name] as Ishaan’s friend** deserves a special mention for his witty advices and good one liners. The students and teachers of the school act equally well. Aamir has banged the hammer of his acting skills once again. Kudos to his efforts with acting, directing and producing.

*Postives:

The biggest asset to Taare Zameen Par is Darsheel. He entertains thoroughly exactly till the end. Cinemetography is excellent, Setu does an excellent job in capturing Ishaan’s various expressions brilliantly. Music is stunning, SEL do a good job again. All tracks except’Bheja Kum’ have perfect placing and composition in the film. Editing is good, movie does not seem to drag anytime till the end. The special effects are good, not used too much though.

*Negatives:

Couldn’t find any, Will update this section. If I find any.

*Scenes to watch out for:

*# Opening scene, Teachers reading marks. [Make sure you get theatre on time]

# The fight between Ishaan and his apartment mate.

#’Jame Raho’ Song.

# Ishaan’s leaving home+’Maa’ song

# Ishaan’s Dad seeing him reading for the first time

# The art competition finale.

Overall^. Taare Zameen Par is absolutely a must watch for this christmas. Give a treat to yourself and your children, do watch it. Missing this one would be a crime.
