On the bank of river Yamuna, is build a palace in Ivory white marble by Shah Jahan in the loving memory of his wife Mumtaj. The walls of the Taj speaks of the legend of Shah Jahan.
There is lots of security checks before entering Taj. But camera & mobile phones are allowed. A guide can be hired who can describe the details and can show you the architecture and describe the designs. That will definitely help to have a detailed view and interest in Taj. There is beautiful stone work which can be seen inside and photography is prohibited inside. But there is less security so risk may be taken but nothing to go viral. Upon going down there is tomb of both Shah Jahan & Mumtaj but the actual tomb is below that. There is Jalis, reflective tiles and caligraphy on walls which looks very beautiful. The lawn provides some good water & garden views for photography and caturing live memories. For keeping the premises clean you have to put some paper cover over shoes to keep the floor clean. A well maintained culture of our country.
The hotel accomodation is very easy and not so cheap. Fooding may be little expensive as compared to the cost. The water is a big issue. The water in agra is saline in taste. So prefer outside mineral water for kids.
Agra also has some good saree works. There are sarees which are made up of bamboos & trunk of banana plant which is again a good item to buy. You can also find leather work products like Jackets & Shoes.
Agra is not to be preferred in summers as visiting over marble is very hot and water issues are at the peak. Winter is very cozy & comfortable forbTaj Mahal tour as did I.
