I saw Taken, when it was shown on C.B.C., (the Canadian Broadcast Corporation), that began on June 16, 2003

It was an eight part mini-series that was produced by Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks Entertainment. The music was arranged by Laura Karpman. The entire series was filmed in and around Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The series is about three families. We see three generations of each family and how they were effected when the first generation, of each family, comes in contact with UFO’s and the Aliens that arrive on earth.

They say that these stories are taken from real encounters, that have been documented, with the extraterrestrials.

Each of the series was two hours long. I understand that you now can buy it as a 6 disc DVD set.

.:My Review:.

This series is narrated by Allie Keys, the ten year old great-granddaughter of Russel Keys.

The First Family:

During WW II, a United States pilot’s, (Russel Keys), plane was shot down somewhere over Germany. He was dying as it was crashing. Suddenly blue lights stopped the aeroplanes descent. He doesn’t remember anything, until he and his Squadron, wake up on the ground. They don’t know how they got there.

Years later Mr. Keys starts to remember what happened. He realizes his life as never been the same since this happened. He begins to look for the answers to what happened to him, and his men.

He can’t prevent his son and the generations that follow him, from being abducted by the Aliens.

The Second Family:

In 1947 a UFO crashed near Roswell, New Mexico, (in the United States). Owen Crawford is part of the Army who is sent to retrieve the UFO and the contents.

He becomes part of the cover-up of the secret Government investigating team, when he moves his family to Las Vegas, so he can work at Area 51 in Nevada.

His work destroys his marriage and alienates his two sons. One son follows in his father’s footsteps and the other one wants no part of anything to do with UFO’s. This family uses their power to stop anyone who tries to get in their way.

The Third Family:

On a farm near Roswell, New Mexico, a strange man staggers into the yard. He has been injured and needs Sally Clarke’s help to recover.

He is very handsome, with bright blue eyes. Sally is a lonely lady and she and the stranger have an affair. One day the stranger vanishes.

Sally is sure she had an encounter with an Alien. Her family are not convinced he was an Alien. She has a son who she names Jacob, who looks a lot like his father. He has intuitive powers.

When the Government hears about him they try to abducted him. A member of Sally’s family helps him escape.

The Families Meet:

The third generation of each family must meet to help one another find out what really happened.

.:My Thoughts:.

I was fascinated by this series. Having seen a few UFO’s, I didn’t need to be convinced that this could happen.

I thought the acting was a good as it would have been if it was a movie. Dakota Fanning will steal your heart. One wouldn’t expect less from a Director of Steven Spielberg’s stature.

The special effects were fabulous. I love the music. There were 15 tracks in this series. The three I liked the best were, Only The Lonely, (preformed by Roy Orbison), The Purple People Eater, (preformed by Shed Wooley), and Ripple, (preformed by the Grateful Dead).

I was happy when I watched the Grammy Awards and it won the award for the best mini-series.
