I had decided to tradeoff my old Wagon-R and buy an auto transmission i10. I saw the ad and called this dealership. The sales person by name Charan has responded and agreed to give couple of discounts and an exchange bonus of the old car as Rs.20, 000. The company evaluator offered price of Rs.80000, for which I said no. After that the same sales man called and said he would give me 1 lakh + Rs.20, 000 a total of Rs.1.2 lak for the old car and I just need to pay Rs.4.48 lacs for the new i10. I agreed and gave my old car. It was March 28th when I handed over the car. He also demanded for the complete money of Rs.4.48 lacs in order to lock in the pre-budget price of the new car, even though I said that I was traveling and would be able to make it on April nd. On top of that, he said that there were only few colors for the old price and I had to choose only among them. So I had selected Grey in the available list of colors and gave the check for the full amount payable on March 31st 2012.
Now from March 29th the drama starts. One Mr.Asif, the boss of Charan calls me and says that I need to pay Rs.20, 000 more as Charan made a mistake. Then Charan calls me and says I dont get Corporate Discount as I am buying on my wifes name. It went on till I returned back.However the cheaters were shrewd enough to cash my cheque.
On April 2nd , myself and my wife went to collect the car and the real drama began. First there was one by the name Peraiah, who comes and says, I need to pay Rs.26, 000 more as his salesman Charan has made mistake. I explained him that it was the price quoted on the old pre-budget price of the car, along with the corporate discount and an exchange bonus of Rs.20, 000 on top of the Rs.1, 00, 000. He listens, goes inside and comes back after half an hour and says the same thing again. I got irritated after the second time when it got repeated and then other person by name Ravi, I guess, who is the branch manager, got and threw a free advice to settle by paying half and half -- something like that.
Then after two hours, they all got together and spent another hour and came back with the message that they cant honour the deal their salesman had given me and said would arrange to give back my car and cheque. However I didnt want to disappoint my wife, so I was ready to shell another Rs.10, 000 and book it on my name so that I would get the corporate bonus of Rs.5, 000. They asked me to use their computer to get my salary slip details etc. Then after 10 minutes they again come back and say their GM did not agree. What a piece of shitty business !!!
First of all, the sales man committed a price and took my car. On top of that took and encashed my cheque. Then after making us wait for five hours of frustration, agree for something and again say that they cant accept. All the time they were saying their salesman is ignorant and dont know anything and he had to pay from his pocket if they give me at that price.
Anyone who is reading this episode, can clearly make out that this is nothing but a high voltage sales drama. The ultimate motive behind this appeared to be the fact that they would like to seel the car at the post budget price. If they had to do so, they can by all means, but why should they make false promise and waste my 4 days and encash my money and take my old car.
Finally, the sales man drove back my old car and brought the cheque back on 4th April evening. So I had lost the interest on 4.5 lacs for 5 days and got subjected to a lot of frustration.
Please, please avoid this shitty dealer unless you want to get into hassles like this....
