Films like umrao jaan, pakeeza, mother india and Tamanna are termed as master pieces as they are totally different and prominent from bollywoods run of the mill stuff...
Pooja bhatts first attempt as a producer was simply out class and she gives a film to indian cinema on which it should be proud .... Tamanna is a master piece classic and should be in the dvd/vcd collection of all the indian film viewers....it was released in 1997 and got average hit status which is commendable for this type of unique and offbeat film...
the story goes like an enunech (the third sex) finds a baby girl in dust bin in the month of ramzan during sehri and adopted her even with the apposition of his/her baradri.... that third sex (paresh rawal) was living with a muslim maulvi (manoj bajpai) and his son (sharad kapoor) , when tammana get older they admit her in a hostel, she was unaware of the fact that her dad was actually a 3rd sex.... tammana teh becomes a full of life big naughty girl in hostel (Pooja bhatt) and get involved in sharad kapoor... one day she comes to know that her father is a 3rd sex and also that she is not a baastard child and her own real father was against the birth of girls hated them and he himself order his servant to throw her in garbage, and from here till end the film moves on an extremely touchy track...
Paresh rawal as tikku hijra (3rd sex) and Pooja bhatt as Tamanna deleivers the best performances of their life and they surely desreved national awards for these outstanding roles... the story and srcript is out class and your eyes remain filled with tears till the end of the film...direction and screen play is superb like the film itself and mahesh bhatt is in his full farm.
all songs are heart touching..like 1. Shab kay jagey huey taroan ko bhi neend aanaey lagi. 2. Ghar say masjid hai bohut duur chalo yunn kar lain kisi rotaey huey bachahy ko hansaya jaey.
And u will be surprised that this fiction like story is 100% true, and tikku hijra and tamanna are living even today in india... for more surprise of u, Pooja bhatt and nahesh bhatt gave all the income of the first day shows of Tamanna to tikku hijra for the marriage of real life Tamanna, so I must say that a great film for a great cause and pooja and mahesh deserves full marks for this sincere and classic attempt.
Dont even think to miss this film, bcoz if u miss this film, u will miss a master piece of indian cinemas history.
