Ships we know, but pass us anyway

In some things, we know; In others, suspect. What I never knew is WHEN Fleetwood Mac lost more than could be held together by the awesome cohesiveness of the band. This is when.

When I first heard Tango in the Night it was 1991, four years after guitarist Lindsey Buckingham had terminated his association with Fleetwood Mac, the finality of things unsaid struck me.Though it comes closer to the memory of their greatest work, Rumours(1977), than any other, it falls many stadia short.

For all it lacks, the album boasts some sleek and interesting songwriting by Buckingham on the lovable ’Everywhere’ and what are probably the album’s best tracks, ’Big Love’ and ’Isn’t it Midnight’ although the most played track is the languid ’Little Lies’

If you are a Fleetwood Mac fan, give this a listen as a chronicle of their work, no more. If you aren’t, this is the end of an era
