Tapovan Retreat was a blessing when other hotels were charging the sky during the Christmas weekend. Beach within walkable distance. The quiet and serene ambience is very soothing for city-frazzled nerves. Rooms are clean and comfortable although some may need to be spruced up – dented floor linoleum and torn wall papers repaired. Mosquito repellents provided. But better to carry some repellents and a torch. Most rooms have a nice seat out, with local swing chairs.
Has its own generator. Toilet and bathroom well maintained with running hot and cold water. Service staff is very helpful. Can provide good and helpful directions for local sightseeing. Table tennis and carom available at the hotel. Serves only veg food. So most boarders opt to eat out. Cook does not come if there is few guests and sends over meals in tiffin carriers. The menu lacks imagination and quality of food is poor. The Saturday weekly market right in front of gate is an interesting add-on.
