Ta Ra Rum Pum is Bollywood masala at its best.
Some may not have liked the movie.But again its individual taste.Not everyone likes the same kind of movies.
Its like individual food preference.Some are very particular abt their diet, they need their food to be high on nutrition, low on cals - in short real healthy food.**Some dont think abt the nutrition value, its only the taste, the spice that matters:). If I talk in terms of movies, Ta Ra Rum Pum falls in the second category.Again there are some people who appreciate realistic cinema as well as masala movies.It all depends on individual.
*OK.enough of my justification to have liked the movie:) I just loved it:)
*About the movie:-
The movie is abt RV(Saif), his wife Shona:)(Rani) and their two** sweet kids, princess and champ
And to complete this family we have a dog BRUNO! Thats perfect!.
RV is the no.1 Racer in the USA ala Schumi.He has won around 50 races!
The movie begins with RV getting ready for one of his races.His wife and two kids cheering for him in the stands, shouting RV!RV!
And we have a narration from Princess, about how RV is the best father, the best husband and ofcourse the best Racer! She reveals about his "rags to riches" story
We go into a flashback where we see RV working as a pit crew member for one of the teams.He has not completed his studies, as he was never good at it.A chance meeting with Harry(javed jaffri) gets him into "Speeding Saddles" team as a Racer.Speeding Saddles, is owned by a very business-minded Bill(Bharat Dhabolkar). The team was not doing well, untill RV took over as the racer.He wins his very first race.Suddenly life starts looking bright for RV.He finds the love of his life "SHONA"(only after some regular bollywood romance.u know little scuffles.chota-mota arguements and ya a broken ipod!). RV’s career as the racer for Speeding Saddles takes off with a bang.And now he has loads of money.RV is never good with Money.He buys a house, a swanky car and all the comforts he ever wanted.all on installments.Rv’s a spendthrift and doesnt think twice before spending even a very huge amount.Shona is completely opposite.She believes in saving the money for future and doesnt like RV’s ways, but still manages.Soon their family is complete, when they have their two kids.Life is a fairy tale.
*Cut to scene 1, the beginning of the movie.
The race begins .Welcome, the "bad guy", Rusty, .RV is confident(mayb over-confident) that he is gonna win this race as always.Rusty takes him by surprise and causes a severe crash for RV.RV is severely injured in this crash.And this, my friends, is the **turning point of this masala phillum.
It takes an year for RV to recuperate.He decides to make a come-back.Shona is little apprehensive, but for RV’s sake doesnt show it.
In the come-back race, RV is haunted by his previous crash and goes numb! He ends up coming last.And the same continues for few races.Bill, throws RV out of Speeding saddles and Rusty enters the team in place of RV.
"Ek Jhatke" mein RV’s world goes topsy-turvy.He loses his "home-sweet-home", the car and everything.He has to leave the posh Manhattan area and settle for a rented apartment in a chepaer area.No money in their pockets.RV and Shona tell their kids that its a reality game show, where they have to be like a "poor" family and win the prize.
Life gets really cruel.There are obstacles all the way.RV never knew anythg apart cars.He doesnt even have a degree.
The rest of the movie is how the family triumphs their bad times.How RV reclaims everything he lost.Its how, during even the worst times, the family sticks together.
Inspiring! In its own way.
*Performances:-
The character played by Saif is not a very "hatke" or somethg.It doesnt require any histronics.Saif plays his part sincerely and has done well.Rani, though in initial portions looks little awkward, is in good form in the 2nd half.and compliments Saif.Their on-screen pairing is really good.Javed jaffri - If u were expecting one more "EGZHAATLY" kind of a performance, then u ll b surprised.He is seen here in a little serious role, but still he is brilliant.The kids look sweet and their performance is great.Victor Bannerjee, though good in couple of scenes he has, is wasted.Bharat Dabholkar is adequate.Rest of the cast is OK!
Music is not the "blockbuster", "Chart Topping" types, but is hummable and goes well in the film.Special mention abt the song with animation. Guess the kids wd love it!
Technical- The race sequences, are good and keep you interested.They may not be as well shot as, in any hollywood movie, but they are good.
Direction is good, but sometimes u can see Siddharth loosing his grip.
All in all, If I say in Javed Jaffri’s way."**The pikture bahu fine che, u can wotch with ur "Hole" Phaemily"
MORAL of the story:-
*Life is unpredictable.Dont b a spendthrift.Save ur money for the future.
Also "Zindagi mein aaye khushiyan ya gum, hanste raho hardum, gaate raho Ta Ra Rum Pum, ta Ra Rum Pum"(maybe this is not the exact line!, but I guess it conveys the message:) )
