You might think I am a person whos been paid by Taste of Rampur to write this review, but I am not. To tell you the truth, after reading the reviews written by other people on diff websites, I was pretty sceptic if this will be an ideal place to take my team out for lunch cos I am considered as a food critic in my team and my reputation was at stake. But boy, was I and my team of 7 pleasantly surprised!! I have not written any reviews about any other hotel on mouthshut but since the number of negative reviews on mouthshut were so many for this hotel, I thought they deserve some bouquets amongst all these brickbats.
So here goes my review:
The waiters were extremely proactive in bringing menu, water etc and catered to all of our needs with a big smile on their faces. In our team of 7, we were 3 veggies n 3 non-veggies so ordering was done accordingly. We had ordered Classic Paneer Tikka, Murgh Malai Tikka and Sheekh Kabab Rampuri- We had made excellent choices and we enjoyed every bit of the starters.:) Along with this we had ordered sweet/salt lime water/soda for all of us. When my sweet lime was little extra sour, it was replaced by the waiter with a better one in under 5 mins.
For the main course, we blindly made the order based on what was suggested by the knowledgeable waiter (who knew his dishes well). We had ordered 9 butter naans, 2 tandoori rotis, 1 Murgh Biriyani, 1 Veg biriyani, Makkai Kumbh Mutter, Dal Bukhara, Murgh Lababdar and Murgh Badam Masala (asked the waiter to make the non-veg curries little more spicy since he informed these curries were tasty but medium spicy). Once these dishes were lined up on our table, we pounced upon these like hungry urchins who got food after ages. The butter naans were extremely smooth, the Makkai Kumbh Mutter was one of the best vegetarian dishes Ive had..it was extremely tasty, the Dal Bukhara was also ok-tasted more like Dal Makhani. The Biriyanis were extremely aromatic and tasty. The non-veg curries were beautifully done and every bite with the naan and the curries together, was like tasting a bite of happiness :) . We lapped up every single dish and almost immediately the dishes vanished from the plates and a feeling of satisfaction and contentment appeared on our faces.
On top of that, our angel-like-headwaiter gave us complimentary beetroot halwa. Well when he told us about this we were pretty excited but were thinking "beetroot halwa??nahhh doesnt sound good"..and when we got it, it looked more like dal makhani or so but when we put it in our mouth, the sweetness, the texture and the flavors, we all got lost in its taste. It tasted better than gajar Ka Halwa..:). Along with this, we also had ordered Matke Ki Kulfi and for me I had ordered- Rabdi and Litchis deadly combination. I can now say that this tops my list of the best desserts I have had...since I love both the ingredients-litchi and rabdi..so I cudnt ask for more. :) We had a gala time in the restaurant and apart from the Ambience(which could be improved and they should install A/Cs), we did not have any complaints. We all went back home with a full and a happy tummy!!!!
P.S: If after reading this review, you went to Taste of Rampur and still got crappy food there, please dont blame me. It just might be that they or you were having a bad day food-wise!!.
