Horrible Service - TATA AIG Travel Insurance

Dear Friends,


I am primarily writing this review to warn prospective travel insurance policy buyers from TATA AIG. Firstly, if you are actually buying the policy I would request you to call their call center number and try to get through them 1800-266-7780 or 022-66939500, I think that will be sufficient warning enough for the things to come.


In the month of may I had the misfortune of buying an online travel policy from Tata AIG(Policy No - PA493748), unfortunately I needed another type of policy to apply for senior citizen visa for schengen countries.  Hence I wanted to cancel the policy and the nightmare began:


Firstly I called their customer support on the numbers given above, it took me more that 25 minutes to get through the number, where the recorded message kept playing the same message for the entire duration "Tata Aig mediprime offers caseheless claim approval in 4 hours after submission of requisite documents and within network hospital. For more details please speak with our customer service officer today". Its a torture and warning to any prospective person trying to call them or buying the mediprime policy, you will spend 4 hours just trying to get through the dense customer support.


On the first call the executive emailed me a form which I needed to fill out and sent it back to them for the cancellation of policy, on the email ID mentioned in the email from TATA AIG. I filled the necessary form and sent to the email ID mentioned. I got no response, I sen the request second and third time but still no response. To avoid any mistakes in typing the email ID I copied the email ID directly from the email I got from TATA AIG and I still got no response for almost three to four weeks.


Then I called them back again, this time around it took me only 22 minutes to get through the customer support number, who listened to my request and informed me that they had not received any email from my side. This after me copying the email ID from the Tata AIG email. The customer support executive informed me that the department which deals with cancellation queries has gone home and nobody is available right now so please call in the morning. I asked him to put me through some manager or senior guy who can assist - lo and behold even the manager was not available at the time when I called up.


Also, the executive informed me that they do not have any fax number where I can send my request or any alternative email where I can send. The executive forwarded me the policy cancellation form again, from where I again copied the email ID and sent my request again to TATA AIG and I just dint get any auto response or any response. I am forced to think that TATA AIG is deliberate is not receiving or acknowledging the cancellation request as they don’t want to refund the money, and as per the executive there is no alternate way to send the cancellation request to them.


I intend to pursue this case and bring it to logical end for all the harassment caused to me, I hope to recover all the money I have spent on making calls to them as well. So you can buy the policy online without any problem but god forbid if you want to cancel then their scheming process starts.
