I have been working for TCS for last 2.3 years and it was a journey with mixed emotions and experiences. I have joined TCS in 2016 Jan in Kolkata.
Let’s talk about salary, if you are a fresher then you are at loss, if you have any other options, then go for those company which will give you good starting package and you starting package matters a lot when you stay for couple of years and then make a switch. If you make a lateral entry to TCS then you can bargain for good package. But the increments are low, last year branding, A - 6% B-4% C-2% and D for decrement.
Benefits that TCS in Kolkata give is a very big campus, wonderful canteen, night cab service and evening bus service. And most of the projects are support project here so your work life balance will be maintained.
In comparison to the current time I think TCS is one of the most secure company and you can choose this company for long term option. I have hardly seen anyone getting fired, condition given that you don’t get involved in any HR issues like fraud, harassment etc.
Career growth I already mentioned above as very slow, but you will get good projects to work and they have a lot of projects to switch around.
Work environment is very good, it’s very relaxed but you will obviously find a lot of office politics going on, as people have a lot of free time to do those also.
CEO is working day and night to maintain the image of the company and get more are more projects. It’s one of the biggest IT job creator in UK and USA. TCS is the no one IT company in India.
