I had a blackberry 9650 (supports both CDMA and GSM) handset which I was using when I was in USA. When I came to India. I thought of activating my old tata indicom (CDMA) number on my blackberry. but to my surprise, indicom guys are so adamant that they would prefer loosing a customer rather then changing their stupid policies. I was told by tata showroom in koramangala that I would have to buy the same blackberry handset from tata if I want to use their service, they would not activate my blackberry handset as they have a policy as per which they usually lock the handset and sell it. that means after buying BB handset from tata I would not be able to use that handset with any other operator in this world, of course until and unless I unlock the handset with help of technicians or do it my self using software. customer care guy suggested me another weird idea, and asked me to port from tata indicom to docomo (GSM) if I want to use my blackberry handset. Still was wondering as to why tata wont allow my handset to be used be used for indicom service but they would allow it to be used with docomo. So did that stupid mistake of porting to the service of all docomo.
Since the time I inserted my docomo sim card in my BB handset, there was no signal inside my house (my house in ulsoor area of Bangalore, close to MG road which is a prime area), I hardly get 1-2 signal bars even when I was standing on the road side which are not worth enough to make a call or even receive a call, The same day I complained to docomo customer care and was told a routine reply that within 48 hours problem will be solved. Even in my office which is in domlur area, I had the same network problem, no signal or just 1-2 signal bars. I had earlier also asked to activate blackberry internet service, which customer care guy doesnt seem to have any idea as to what the heck was BIS plan and told me that it would take seven working days to activate this plan. I have made multiple follow ups at docomos indira nagar showroom, but even after 1 and half month on time, my problem was not resolved and now customer care says that it will take them minimum 4 months to solve network issue.
So these idiots were trying to tell me that I should keep paying them postpaid rental with getting any service and not being able to make or receive calls. So finally after hell lot of frustration decided to port my number to Vodafone. but here also, docomo guys didnt gave ma relief as they were not wiling to release my number for being ported to Vodafone and hence Vodafone guys were unable to port. my existing number. Docomo guys now told me that they would waive off my rental and wanted me to continue their service irrRajeev_Vermactive of the fact that I would be still not able to make or receive calls as there is no signal bars.
So finally decided to close that connection as and have to opt for a new connection at vodafone, Docomo service has been like pain in the @ss. I would suggest never to go for this stupid service if you staying in bangalore. Voice quality is so pathatic that even if you ever mistaken get call, you will hear the other persons voice breaking up and will be unable to hear what he is saying and the same will be experianced by other person. only pros about docomo is their plans are cheap like their services. I had opted for 149 plan.
I am happy that now I have moved to Vodafone, I get full signals at my home and also at office, voice quality is also good.
