I took this(dis)connection 4 months ago, as some person called me pestering to take a connection which will provide "unlimited" everything for 1299 rental. This includes unlimited STD, local and mobile data(2 GB of 3G data). To be honest, I never got to use the 3G connection through Docomo, as it has got a mind of its own. It connects for sometime during midnight when I am asleep, and it doesnt connect during daytime no matter how many attempts I make. Disabling/enabling network, changing to airplane mode and back, restarting mobile, changing the connection to Auto/WCDMA only, etc.
Its really frustrating as Im banking on the 3G connectivity to check my office mails and communicator on the go. I made several complaints over the past few months, and I realized their customer service is only trained for one thing, "send the customer back to where they belong, being miserable". Further research on this subject threw some light on the issue. Tata Docomo has got a very limited connectivity slots in the 3G spectrum, and you will get connected if it is your lucky day. Funny thing is I get an alert from Docomo after 2 weeks in the billing cycle, saying the data quota has exceeded the subscribed limit, when seriously I dont remember using the same. Amazing thing about Docomo is that how conscious they are when it comes to collecting the payments.
From the day the bill gets generated, you will start getting "tata docomo payment alerts" several times in a day. You would also get many calls from their collection people as well as automated voice reminder calls. If you log a complaint for some issue, rest assured you wont hear from them again. I had enough of this service in the past 4 months and now im porting to Airtel.
