This review is being written by me after the rather shocking treatment I recieved from M/s TATA Teleservices who provide mobile and fixed wireless phone services under the brand name TATA Indicomm.
My father has a fixed wireless phone provided by the above company, now for about a year. During this period all bills have been paid on time. But the payment of the bill for Feb 2005 Rs. 331 was delayed by 3 days. It fell due on the 6th Mar, but was paid only on the 9th Mar via a cheque. The cheque was dropped off in the drop boxes of one of the many franchisees of the above company.
On the 14th of Mar the outgoing calls from the phone were barred. I called up the companys call center no. and gave details of the payment made. I was told rather curteously that it would taken care of. But on subsequent days too when the outgoing calls remained barred I started getting annoyed.
Then on the 16 of March I am told by the people in the call center implied that the cheque we gave has been dishonoured. On verifying with our bank I find that was not the case. The cheque was never presented Then on calling and fighting with the call center people they tell me that they have invalidated our check and have returned it by courier to us.
They also made the false claim that they tried calling us up and informing us of the invalid cheque. Please note that nobody can dishonour a check other than those that are listed under the Negotiable Instruments Act to deal with negotiable instrumets.
I am still to recieve the TATA Tele Services dishonoured (patently illegal act on the part of the company) cheque. I have no written communication from the company either about it and the final word on it from their call centre is that they will not give me anything in writing. So much for a company formerly run by J R D Tata, who would be turning in his grave.
