I brought my tata indica Lxi, fully loaded version, around 2 years back. The primary reason for this choice was the leg space (i am 183 cms tall). The leg space is great!!!! This is a standard comment made by all my friends who have had the privilege of sitting in my car. The leg room is good even for the people sitting behind. My 2 year old comfortably sits, stands, sleeps and does whatever he feels like doing and my wife manages to be inside the car all the time!!! This was something that is just not possible in any other small car.
The engine power is superb!!! I use only Indian oil extra premium for my car and the performance has been pretty top notch so far. Very minimal maintenance costs, provided you stick to the trusted brands. On a highway you can just burn the roads and leave all the other contemporary challengers way behind.
One thing I would like to change in this car is the view from the driver’s seat. For a person who is new to driving cars, the indica can be a real nightmare!!! It is very difficult to estimate the margins when we are turning - specially in narrow roads. The gear shift could have been smoother, also the general refinement. Also the noise could have been lower. Sometimes, when you drive with the windows open, you could not be blamed for thinking you are inside and aeroplane, just beside the wing.
All in all, I think the indica Lxi is real value for money.
