My cousin was looking around to buy a car. Initially we decided to go for a second hand midsize and so followed the test drives. Tata Sierra, Ford escort, Maruti Esteem either proved too expensive to own or to maintain. Hence the thought of buying a new small car came to us. Finally, considering the initial investment, running costs, service and spares availability, TATA INDICA was chosen instead of the korean and japanese marvels.
The roomy interiors, relatively silent cabin, ride quality impressed us. The seats and the legroom was too good compared to the Marutis. The Made In India car was truly a feather on the cap of the Indian Automobile Industry. We have driven it thousands of kms now, and are totally satisfied.
On the negative side, the wiper/washer gave way too often and was left dry when needed. The power delivery of the engine also tends to drop when the A/C is switched on and the car is laden with 5 adults with an avg weight of 65kgs and their luggage!!! Iam not sure if this is with all Indicas. We can also do without that much of noise from the engine :) .
If TATA MOTORS addresses these niggling problems, Iam sure they have a trump card in their hands. One suggestion is if you are going for a Indica V2 Diesel, Go for the power steering. The ones without it requires some biceps!! Its good to know our Indica has gone to UK as the CITYROVER. Hats off to TATA Motors and to Indica!! I love my Indica!!!
