(It is a whole new review, cant put tw review on one topic)
Hi all,
After reading many disgusting reviews on Xeta, and just comparing with other satisfying reviews; one can easily conclude that,
Xeta with CNG is a Bane; almost all persons are struggling with the CNG version. I personally know one sr. manager of Fortune Motors (Indica dealer) who has the problem that his Xeta is working fine with CNG but not in Petrol.
No CNG Kit is being fitted from TATA factory, only dealers are getting this retro fitment.
ECU of the car is quite sensitive. (I came to know that it is Bosch ECU and do not accept any adulterations
Performance of the car on petrol is quite OK and seems to be at par, but on Alternate fuels ………. Not good worse even.
Build quality and material of interior is cheap.
Last but on priority …… TATA dealers are habitual to treat truck drivers not vehicle owners. So better to not expect hospitality with them.
Positives in Xeta (Very much Subjective)
Low initial cost
Space (you have to make an effort to touch your co-passenger, not recommended for newly wed couples, please go for a Maruti product ;-)
Sturdy vehicle, safe at high speed
Better road grip
Bigger engine
High torque
Good suspension
Good AC
More leg room in back seat
Big car feeling
Speed cruiser after 40 kmph to 100 kmph
High end specification at low cost (Antenna, head-light adjustment, independent shock-ups, Tachometer, multitasking trip meter, twin-jet viper flushing, in-built stereo wiring…….)
Lower seating visibility but quite comfortable
Negatives in Xeta (Again…….. very much Subjective)
Bitter TATA dealer service (till now my observation is that Xeta in not cheap for maintenance at service centre, these fellow bill you similar to other car company)
Poor build quality & finish
Cabin vibrations
Engine noise from outside
Low quality plastic materials
AC is chilling sometimes (difficult in rainy season due to fog formation)
Less Boot Capacity
Poor Power steering (heavy engine makes it ineffective)
Sensitive for alternate fuel (CNG, LPG, Adulated petrol) I found that Mileage is approximate 20% down with low quality petrol)
Low pick-up at initial gears
Debatable parameters
Design, front looks,
Quality & cost ratio (please do not compare swift and alto with this contender. Swift is pure passion, and alto is pure compromise)
My credibility on the topic
Having Indica Xeta GLS 1.4L Since 12-2006
Getting 14 kmpl with AC (initially 6-7 kmpl), top speed 120kmph (Driver achieved 140 kmph)
Three intercity travel (approximate 1000 km each), Done 12000 km in 101month.
Driving in bumper-to-bumper driving (50%), Expressway (20%), and Highway (30%)
Please find time to read my earlier review “Satisfied till now” (QWERTYUSAER) in same section, Would like to have your comments if different……..
Cheers..
