Test drove the Indica Xeta yesterday
Pros
1) Excellent interiors
2) Extraaaaaa Space ( both in front and back)
3) better sitting position and comfort at back
4) 1405 CC - Hence power under belt
5) 985 kg - better road grip
Cons
1 ) Low milage ( claims 14 so in effect you might end up getting 10 but not bad when you compare with Swift or GetZ)
2) Bad reputation of Telco for Petrol cars - you may end up realising low resale value for your car
3) Bad options of colours ( Really feel some phenic brand manager has chosen the colour option available)
4) you don’t know what the problems this car will give after 1-2 years. Santro and other models are tried and tested ones.
Outlook for future
See with time car market is going to see a change in small hatch back segment. This segment will see cars with more and more cc engines getting launched with prices going as high as 10 lacks
Some of the future entrants are
Chevrolet
Spark ( ca be upgraded version of MatiZ)
Aveo ( pegged against swift ang Getz)
Honda and Toyota is also planning small car launch but all will be in the Swift segment.
Thus you will see WagonR Santro and Indica to become common mans car just like Maruti 800 earlier.
Thus if you are looking for a car that gives you better mileage, better looks , comfortable self drive and better realisation at the time for resale
Go for Santro
It is a time tested car, It will serve you will for next 5-7 years post which I am sure you would upgrade you chauffer driven sedan
So just stop any more research and just go for Santro and dont even think of buying Swift and Getz. Their mileage is sub 10 km/lts and they will now have go back to their R& D to increase mileage and also reduce prices specially with tata offering 1400 cc car at 3.5 lacks fully loaded
