As We were looking for a family Car, we discussed and analyzed all the available models taking the features, power, looks, interiors and the price -- as different factors. Ultimately, there was an absolute unanimity on the Indica Xeta - GVS . Finally we purchased one on 25 th December 2006.
The great smiliey looks from front with the grill and the horn-like lights assembly at the back are the most inviting features not available in any other car in its segment .
The space inside gives an feeling of a much bigger car such as Esteem, if not Baleno, from Maruti stable. However the most disappointing aspect is the quality of the Plastics that has been used on the dash-board, especially the panel for the AC buttons!
Driving Xeta GVS in the city of Delhi, with the highest per capita volume of vehicle in the country, was though as difficult as for any other vehicle but the smoothness of the Gear and the manouverability of the vehicle gave a wonderful feeling upon reaching the destination. The power-steering is albeit a bit hard than say that of Esteem which I test drove before making a final choice --but then its cheaper by almost a cool Rs.150000 !
Driving long -distances on the National Highways was also equally comfortable. However, with AC on, engine efficiency turned a clear southward.
For a budget-conscious purchaser, (not to a potential Michael Schumaker) I would certainly recommend this Made in India vehicle which is a veritable iron cage on the Indian road( for the safety of the passengers) and which has now been available in still newer looks.--Dr.A N Thakur
