Hi All
Well I have only few words to say about Xeta as my roomy has got a new Indiaca Xeta 1.4 GLG, I have driven this car many times and have experienced some good some bad things with this Model.
Indica - the first thing that comes in our mind : Economic, Spacious, Stylish, safest in its category..
Hey hold on Economic -- but I think we all think it because of it DIESEL model.
So does Indica XETA is also economic, as dealers say dont expect more that 12-13 kmpl in city as per PAWA motors - New Delhi.
Well to me its not an economic car in comparison to its other petrol competitors & would like to know your view for the same..
The Xeta we have is giving 12.3km[l in city and 14.5 in Highways and I think the first service is
done now & the average will raise to 13.5 Kmpl in city & 16 Kmpl in Highways
As per Overdrive Mag Dec06 they say -
______________________________
City : 12.1 Kmpl
Highway : 18.4 Kmpl
Overall : 13.6 Kmpl

But speaking from my personal experience the fuel economy also goes up & down according to the way we drive the car. If you drive sccording to the specification

Gear 1 : 10kmph, Gear 2 : 20kmph, Gear 3 : 30kmph, Gear 4 : 40kmph, Gear 5 : 50+ kmph.

Its definitelt gonna give to best results, beleive me I have Experirnced this with my seven years old car !!
NOW, coming to other points
1) The car has got Goog looks.
2) Classic Interiors (atleast you have a gud color other than gray) but the build quality is not good, if you will see the car fascia/dashboard, you can notice the curves are no 100% sleek I mean the improper curves of fascia.
3)One Unusual thing I noticed in the car body was the the rear doors were not properly aligned with the body of the car, from the side view of thr var you can see that even the door is closed, still it seems that it a bit open, the gap always prevail, I have noticed this thing in many Xeta but I think the body of Xeta & diesel models is the same and this shouldnt happen.
4)One thing my friend has done good is he has got CNG fitted along with the Companys warranty, So its a perfect car for him, but as this is the only car with shockers on front & rear in its segement & after the CNG has been fitted the cars rear shockers are pressed now and the car seems to be heavily loaded from the rear side specially when you park it on the ramp. I think he should do some thing about it as after some time the shockers will be taken care of.
5) Also the front two seats are not at all comfortable although you are always alert but cannot feel comfortable on long drives.
6)By seeing the bosy of indica it seems that the tyres are small for this car(its my personal thinking)
7)From safety view, a good car to have as its a steel giant in its class.
8)Even with the 1400cc engine the pickup is not so as desired from its engine.
9)If you pull off the seat belt and leave it it will directly hit the glass as the pulling seat belt back mechanism is vey fast in indica, I already had a blow from the metal part that goes inside the holder, on my fingers twice in cold winters imagine as if they are specially designed to hit you(Hey just joking).
But still there are certain things in the car that will always attract you to go for it, I have the biggest example for this my project manager is plannong for a new car from last 6 months,
He always wanted to buy Indica Xeta as he is having a min 150 km run every day, so is confused because of its fuel economy. He had managed to get a heavy discount on Xeta the day he was to buy that, he cancelled & thought for Wagon R, the came back to Xeta again, then alto , Xeta again, now Finally hes going for a Santro Xing(although he is still interested for Xeta & he really admires it, but grass always appear to be greener on the other side) & and is now happy with his decsion.
But in the end my friends theres no car thats 100% perfect so I am not saying that the car is not good & I am not even sayn that the car is good, BUT THE FACT REMAINS THE SAME !!!
It upto an individual who has to decide what he wants from a car and what he can compensate, if you do noy bother about economy then its a perfect match for you.
Thats why the TATA has come up with new 1.2L engine to increase its fuel economy, if they succeed then its a An affordable-beautiful beast to have

Well I am editing this review as I experienced a strange problem with Indica Xeta !!!
Few days back I was at CNG station for refilling the CNG in the car and I saw that the rear right tyre was punctured and then I parked the car at the side and then got the extra tyre out and was impressed the way they have kept the tools with proper clamps so that there is no room for noise but soon it turned into nighmare when it came to change the tyre, in Indica the wheel base of the car where the rim is attached with the help of nuts is actually made the otherway round, I mean instead of the screws attached to the base there are nuts which are fixed inside them and first you need to fix the tyre on the base manually(i mean not just hanging the tyre on the screws like we do normally) and then rotate the tyre without any support so that the rim and the base allows the screw to get inside the base to tighten the tyre !!!!!!
Oh my god you must be thinking that what am I writing but thats a fact and on the top of that if you have a wheel cap then its a pain in the neck as you have to place the tyre in a proper position and the round cap in the center of the wheel base is not enough to support the tyre.
Now Imagine if a normal person not having strong muscles(just kidding) needs to change the tyre then its gonna take long time as you can hold the tyre with 1 hand only and it cannot be handled with somebodys support in a normal scenerio. As it took me 45 minutes to change the tyre & that too a taxi driver wwas watching from 20 minutes and in the help me. All I want to say is is the technology is for helping us and if yes when almost all cars have the screws attached on the wheel base then why not Indica??(may theres a genuine reason if anybody knows that please let me know). But it was a very bad experience of mine.
