Xeta Rocks!!!

I got my Indica Xeta V2 GLG in the month of August and it’s been 4 months, I have driven this car more than 4500 Kms. The first service is pending.

Let me go through with my experience that I got in past 4 months.

If I talk about technical specifications then this car is the most powerful car in this segment. It’s 1400 cc engine makes ur journey awesome specially when 5 people are sitting in it with average weight of 75 kgs :) The 12.4 kg-m torque gives it instant pick up even if you are driving on hills. We went to Naina Devi (Himachal Pradesh) all the way to the top with 4 adults and 2 children and I didn’t realize any performance penality. I was able to drive the car even on 3rd gear on the hills, however it was risky.

But everything comes with Petrol, obviously if you require more power and more pickup then average would be less. Under city conditions (if no AC) I get almost 13-14 km/L but when I went to Chandigarh at the average speed of 80 and maximum speed of 130 km/hr I got an excllent average of 16.5 km/l. Hey! trust me, even I also didn’t believe that but that’s true. The GT Kernal express (NH-1) is damn good. You won’t find even a single leaf of tree lying on the road, so forget about any humps or so.

I generally drive with no-AC and get 13-14 km/l average, as my office is not that far only 5 km one way, I think it’s enough. When I go to hariwar from delhi early in the morning I get 14.9 to 15.2 km/l average.

Let’s talk about space, which is awesome. I think I got this car because of it’s look & feel and it’s space, ofcourse price is also less.

I found applying brakes instantly stops the car with a good response. I have heard that Scorpio’s breaks are not that efficient but I didn’t find any problem with applying brakes and stopping the suddenly with Xeta.

Problems:--

I had a worst experience with the Dealer, and I strongly don’t suggest you to go with Srinathji motors. They dont’ have any business sense. They never fulfill what they commit. Moreover they just don’t have any idea about registration, insurance, vehicle performance and extended warrenty. I think they have hired some unskilled executive. I would suggest you to go to Delhi if you are planning to buy any car.

On the other hand, the service is somewhat better than sales. The GM of Srinathji motors is very strict man and I like the way he gets the work done. I mean, TATA motor should improve the conditions of it’s showrooms, ppl should be dedicated towards their work and Manager should be a strict man. They should be well trained and they should not commit which they think can’t be fulfilled but I think it comes with good coaching or training which TATA motors has never thought upon :(

Noise @ 120 Km/hr :- There was some noise in the engine ( could be due to wind) at a speed of 120 Km/hr but my speedometer reaches to 130 Km/l it just truned into huge noise. Even my wife also noticed it and asked me :) I strongly suggest TATA motors to check it in their coming versions of Xeta.

One more thing, there was some steering-shake at the speed of 120 Km/l or over. I was not having so much caliber to get to 140 km/l because of steering-shake and the noise. But yes, upto 100 Km/hr, it runs smooth with almost no extra noise.

One more problem that I have seen is due to its over-weight 1000 Kgs, the rim of the tyres (specially front) get bend slightly when the car goes into the patholes when you are running around @ > 100 km/hr. One instance was, my wheel cover got unreleased and it was thrown away on the other side of the road by the momentum and the rim got bent. Never mind I went to type-shoppe and got it corrected after reaching at my destination.

One more thing about the back tray on which ppl generally fix the speakers, it create some noise when you car goes over a pathole. This problem is, I think present in GLG and GLX model only and they have provided (a provision) back wiper due to which the tray has some space between it’s base. Don’t know, hey TATA can u take a look at it :)

Comparing it with Sentro, I found that Xeta runs heavily probably due to its weight. But Sentro runs smoothly. I mean, there is a difference in between these two cars in driving. I am not saying that one is better than other.

At the last, this is the car that gives you power, pickup, look, style, a little less average. But they all come at very cheap price. Check out the price list after that.
