I recently bought TATA Indica Vista(Quadrajet) from Concorde Motors. From the Day 1 the car has been fine. One of the best things that I would like to share is the drive quality. It is amazingly smooth. However there are some issues that TATA motors still need to fix.
If some one is viewing this article to buy a Vista, then my suggestion is that you can blindly go for it. the only area where TATA is lost is in the area of service. My service history has been pathetic both with Concorde and Prerena. Every time I give my car for regular service, I end up having a whole lot of other problems.
Recently I gave my Tata Indica vista KA05MG 5615 to Prerena motors, Bangalore for 2nd service. After which I had a whole lot of problems. The worst being at 2nd gear and at low speed(10 - 15kmph), when in full clutch, the Engine would shut off automatically and I would have no control over the car(Brakes and steering dies). I have taken it to service station 3 times after that and I still have not got the problem rectified. I seriously doubt if the technicians have enough knowledge to fix this. And, the technicians even though very obedient, have not given me any convincing answer for the problem. I think they have no clue.I am very unhappy with this as this involves some life issues. Today while taking a corner, the engine died and I lost control of the brakes and the steering and was about to run over an person. I dont know why TATA motors does not take such issues seriously.
My personal feeling is that TATA has given a very good product, and they are spoiling the image with their very poor service quality.
28/11/2009: Today I took my car again to Prerenna, because my problem still exists. Me and a technician went on a drive with the laptop connected to the cr. Luckily, the problem occured in 10mins, and the ECU logged a clutch senson problem. After which the sensor was changed. But, no awail, the problem still exists. Now, Prerenna, wants to get a clearance frm TATA motors, to open up the harness, for any faults.
Also, what was strange was that there were 2 faults recorded in the immobilizer ECU, but the service guys did not want to notice it. I guess, my car has a lot of electrical issues. Will update later after the harness is openned.
29/12/2009:Last week, I was able to reproduce the failure in the presence of TATA Motors. After which a complete analysis of the problem was done. Then the problem was found to be the wrong fitment of the CLutch sensor. This means the ECU was always getting the signal as not engaged, no matter what the position of the clutch pedal. This had confused teh eCU and thus the Engine was stalling at high loads(AC ON). The problem is now sorted and the car runs excellently.
