I have had the Tata Indicom broadband service for the past 6 months and dont have any major complaints...to begin with, I had taken some downtime because of server down/cable faults but 90% of the time the service has been up and running.
The customer service is one of the major plus points...theres always someone to attend to your call anytime of day/night. They also promise a 24 hour resolution time which is adhered to in most cases, except for extreme situations like server down.
You can check your usage on their website and the figures are reasonably accurate for the most part. The connection speed is appreciable and the download rate is 30+kb/sec...mine is a 256kbps connection. Connection is reliable and the initial connection is immediate.
They provide an ADSL model with the USB option, so an ethernet card is not required.Also, the internet connection DOES NOT use your phone line, it is a cable connection directly from the server site.
Have read a lot of horror stories about the TataIndicom VSNL broadband, but personally I have not found the service to be so bad, Probably it depends on the area of service.I reside in Central Chennai, in Arumbakkam.
The billing has been accurate and fair...have not been required to haggle over the bill amounts so far.It would be better if there was an online payment option though.
Overall am very satisfied with the connection.
