I wanted to write a review on Tata long time ago, but you know what I am too lazy.
Anyways..... I changed to Tata from Hutch three years ago. I was on corporate plan on Hutch. My friend suggested me to go for Tata and like many people my first reaction was NOOOO!!! but after having a second thought I decided to try it out. I took the Hum Tum hungama plan. Where you buy two cells, you get 6 months unlimited local sms free and free talktime between the two cells for one year. It was a great deal as I wanted to cut the telephone cost(which used to run in thousands) between me and my girlfriend. And it worked!!!
Lets discuss some pros
1) Roaming is free all over India and if you take a add on pack incoming is also free. ( Add on pack is now not available, damn TRAI to be blammed)
2) Network coverage is really very good. Atleast in Maharashtra and Gujarat. Infact Tata was the only service that was working 26/7 but was jammed on 11/7
3) Really cheap and value for money.
4) All tata phones free (add pack req or can take app plan). Very useful if you have gf / bf or you staying away from family.
Currently I am on the Biz Silver plan and I think this one is value for money. Lets work it out
224 Rental where caller id is free. 150 worth of talktime free where 50p for mobile and 1 for landline
75 Add on pack. All tata phones free.( Mobile, walky and landline) Mobile all over Maharashtra
50 Add on pack . 3000 sms free all over India( its a lot)

349, So practically for what you pay for a prepaid for one month you get all these things. And if you make calls on mobile only, like I do.....u get practically 300 calls free for 224 bucks. Mind you the add packs are not compulsory.
Lets dicuss cons
1) You dont have many phone options with Tata, and in case if you are a gadget freak and like to use all latest phones like the N and E series Tata is not for you infact CDMA technology is not for you. They have introduced the moto razr but frankly I find it to expensive. I use nokia 6255.
2) Customer Service is not the best. But atleast in my case they have come back to me if they have given a timeframe, but may not always be helpful.
3) The credit limit concept just sucks .... I cant use all my 3000 sms as the unbilled usage goes above my credit limit and then I go on getting reminders. But in the final bill the amount is properly charged.
4) Tata does not allow you to change from pre paid to post paid or vice versa. So please be very careful and study what you want to go for.
Hope you find my review useful and trust me Tata is not all that bad. Otherwise I would not be using it ....thats for sure.
Just an update I went travelling Gujarat and Rajasthan( not major cities but the small villages whose names you might never even heard of). Coverage in Gujarat was amazing better than Reliance also at some place. Rajasthan I was not so happy.
