Pathetic service from Tata Indicom

Hi, I am a disgusted customer of Tata Indicom like many of you. I took a post paid Walky service 6 months back. I took up the matter with Tata Indicom giving details of the problems faced by me. I am posting a copy my communication with them:


"I am a subsciber of Tata Indicom Postpaid Walky for the past 6 months and I pay my bills regularly. But I am fed up with your pathetic customer service(or, the lack of it). I donot understand how can a renowned name like that of Tatas can be so casual in providing service and at the same time promise so much in their advertisements.


I stay in Chanchal in West Bengal and there is no bill collection centre here. The nearest one is in Malda(70 kms from here) and the guy is reluctant to deposit the money(paid by the subscribers) promptly. My payment in the month of November was withheld by him for more than a week and for that my line was disconnected.


When I took the connection I was assured of a credit(usage) limit of Rs 2500.00. But last month it was reduced by you. This was done most unethically without even informing me either orally or in writing. Till date I don’t know what is my present credit limit. I presume the present limit is pretty low and it is reached very frequently. As a result of this I am getting regular phone calls from your customer service(sic!) guys for making payment of dues even before the bill is generated.


I am not getting the bills regularly. Bill for November with due date as 04/12/07 reached me on 03/12/07 evening. In spite of that I paid the bill vide receipt no. 84782 dtd 05/12/07 through Sony Communication, Kaliachak, Malda but every alternative day your office is disturbing me by asking for making payment of the same.


Again in December my line was disconnected for no fault of mine. On enquiry I was told my your customer care(sic!) that my unbilled and billed usage crossed the credit limit. This is in spite of my making the full payment of the bill well in time and before receiving the bill.


I am presently in the talk-plan 350 where I have to pay a monthly rental of Rs 350.00 and I get talktime worth Rs 200.00 p.m .free. Also, internet usage between 10 pm-6 am is free for first 2000 minutes/350MB whichever is earlier. For subsequent internet usage charges are Rs 0.40 per minute. But it seems while calculating unbilled usage this free limit is not taken into account and it is always taken @ Rs 0.40 per minute irrespective of whether it is within the free usage limit or not. As a result the credit limit is hit quite frequently and the phone connection is stopped by you.


I strongly protest this high-handedness from your side and request you to:


Inform me the name of the collection centre in Chanchal or make necessary arrangement for collecting the money from me.


Reinstate the earlier credit(usage) limit immediately for avoiding such harassment.


Despatch the bill in such a way that I get sufficient time to scrutinise the same and make payment accordingly.


Stop those unwanted phone calls from your customer care(sic!) guys immediately.


Consider the free limits of usage before calculating the unbilled amount.


I am giving you 7 days time from today. If I do not get a suitable reply from you by the end of this time period I will be compelled to refer the case to Consumer Court and you will be held responsible for the subsequent action. If you think that it is not possible for you to take the above steps please inform me accordingly.


I may decide to surrender the line
