Folks,
I have used a number of these data cards- from ancient Airtel Data Card, Reliance Data Card and also the Old Tata Indicom Card- the verdict for all those obviously was frustrating!
But, Photon+ of tata indicom is really great - the USB device is just the right gadget for people on the move yet want hi-speed connectivity. The product brochure claims 3.1mbps but I constantly get a download speed of anywhere between 300-600kbps which is very good for our normal browsing.
Photon+ is a USB device and can even double as ur flash storagecos it has a Micro-SD slot as well.
I bought the device for Rs 3k(discount of Rs 500) and installation was pretty hassle-free. A engineer from Tata contacted me and helped me with the installation, the setup files are preloaded on the USB device. You can monitor your usage and bills online and even pay online as well.
However, I found the usage data frustrating because the website does not give usage in terms of data trasnfer bytes but it gives in amount format which is not helpful. The data transfer counter is available on the dialer but that is cumulative! Hope this thing is fixed by the indicom guys.
One advantage Photon+ has over reliance wireless broadband is that Reliance charges separately for roaming across India while with Photon+ data transfer on roaming is not charged.
Oh and BTW, I am on the 10gb Rs 1100 plan.
Happy Surfing!
