I used EVDO internet with Rs 100 plan for 256 mb for 30 days. After sending the necessary sms for activating the plan 256 mb was credited to my number for 30 days validity and Rs 100 was deducted from my balance. So far so good. After some usage I sent sms : DB BAL to 12524 to see my data balance. The return sms informed me that I have 125009 mb to my account !! I became suspicious and called CC. The CC executive informed me that I have no data plan activated in my account !! When I told him that I have a confirmatory SMS that 256 mb is credited to my account in this number, he said that the system is showing that I have no data pack activated on my number. I went on using internet on my laptop and every time I inquired about the data balance it gave some odd figures. Moreover I also found that my main account balance is ok.
After some days the connection snapped suddenly in one data session. I inquired my main account balance and to my horror I found it to be zero. The enquiry of data balance continued to be odd figures without any significant meaning. Once again I called CC and now they told me another chilling story. My main account balance has become - 456.22, yes, minus 456.22 !!! and I have to topup with Rs 456.22 in order to continue using the number. Now my outgoing call is barred. When asked as to how a prepaid balance can become negative by such a huge amount the CC politely told me that I used internet and that made the balance negative. But my data pack was active !! their system has no answer. But their system sent sms that I am being credited with 256 mb HSIA data !!!! What sort of a system do Tata CDMA have ????
My questions 1) How can a balance become negative by such a big amount ??
2) When the balance became zero why was the internet connection not closed for
zero balance ?? On what logic I was allowed to use internet without any intimation
that my main balance is being wiped out and it is becoming negative ???
3) Why was the data balance sms not working ?? How can a user know that there is or
not any data in his data pack account ???
4) If the balance is negative why is it not shown on balance enquiry ?? Dialing 15225 is
giving main balance as 0.00!!!
I emailed Tata Nodal Officer and Appellate Authority. I got no reply from any of them . As a last resort I emailed senior officers of TRAI thru their website. Even that fell on deaf ears !!!
So this is what Tata CDMA is doing with their customers !! And the authorities in charge are least bothered about how a customer may be cheated !!
