My first car Indigo CS GLX (petrol version)

Why Indigo Cs (GLX):-


I am a 26 years old guy looking for a car that can truly give VFM. My buget was around 4.5 lakhs. Monthly uses is around 500 km max, so I decided to go for a petrol car. After much of internet searches, reading reviews and talking around I found 5 models suitable for me- Swift, i10 kappa, beat, indica vista & Indigo Cs.


I personally not like swift design as it looked like a frog to me. i10 with its kappa engine is a good choice I thought due to its engine, mileage and its owner review. But when I inquired about its price its around 4.25 lakhs for sportz model and one cons that I felt was its rear seat space and leg space. Its boot also doesn’t have adequate space. In such price I have to scarifies space and comfort this was the thinking and I have to made up my mind. Next comes Beat which is almost like i10 but not available in my city and have some spares problem.


Now comes the moment when I decided to go in TATA showroom. Everyone my seniors, colleagues & friends have make me to understand that TATA cars are not good. They ride like a truck, make intense noises & no comfort at all. They all say for first car go for maruti or you can take hyundai. But I decided to see what does an INDIAN company makes which s tunnies the world by making Nano, takes over land-rover & jaguar and makes most successful SUV the Safari. Here I see vista which is a good car having all features. Just I am seeing it my eyes looks to Indigo Cs and asks its price. Dealer told me it is available for 4.30 ex showroom for top end petrol model. Then I asked to explain its features. I found the car contains all features except for a music player.


After a week of brain storming I finally decided to go by Cs. I was amazed by the Engineering of TATA engineers to make a sedan less than 4 mtrs and save 8 % of tax and also that all relief in this is passed to customer. No company does this kind of act. After this I booked my Cs on 12 feb 2010 on Mahashivratri taking Lord Shiva’s name and thought Lets see what will happen as I overlooked everyone’s advice & making them angry.


Taking delivery & features of car-


I took delivery of my car on 05 march 2010 in Mica Grey color. Its looks great. One thing I like to say strongly that TATA does not highlights whats its car features are. This top model comes with all features that a high end hatchback contains. Like tubeless radial tyre which no one mentioned even I thought they will give me tubed radial. Independent coil suspension system for rear wheels also again it is not provided by any car of this price range. Front & rear fog lamps, digital clock, rear defogger, central locking, tachometer & odometer to name few. Nothing Less than i10, beat or swift except music system. Also AC of the car is very much efficient, cools off the cabin in 2-3 mintues and switching on the AC does not reduces the driving quality.


I readily purchase a SONY music system with front USB which I think sounds better than which comes in-built in those cars. Finally in 4.5 lakhs I got my car fully loaded with all accessories. TATA worthy says that it is a car for young professionals and class starts early. Its a sedan car which have plenty of space, beige interiors & you will be amazed by its boot space. Open the boot lid and you have 380 litrs of boot space.


Dealer Experience:-


Kraft Auto Pvt Limited Bokaro Steel City, Jharkhand. The staff of kraft auto are friendly. They clarify my doubts, arranged test drive and helped me in every problem. They provided me free insurance & free AMC for three years even I took car in pre-budget price and took delivery after post budget. Also given some accessories free- Mat, perfume, leather steering cover and discounted on seat covers.


Driving experience-


I have never driven a car before. But surprisingly  I drive my cs in just two days. It have good acceleration, smooth in driving, powerful power steering and gear shift is not so heavy. Finally I can say after driving 500 km that is doesn’t drove like a truck. Even those who are criticizing me on buying TATA car after driving this car got amazed by its performance and smoothness. It got a powerful head lamps and horn. One thing I felt that it should contain some more power for city driving but nonetheless it can be achieved by lowering gears. Its average is around 14 km (petrol version) without first service and without AC. Plastic quality of TATA has improved but with a scope of more improvement. Finish of car can be even better.


Recommendations:-


Anyone who wants a big family car in less price that of a hatchback can go for it. Its sedan, spacious, luxurious and finally a good engineering done by an INDIAN company. Take my word Indian Engineering is not so bad as people believes. Drive a TATA car then Decide with car of that price range.


I will review car performance again after 3000 km of running.
