I bought Indigo LX TDI, on april 30, 05 from A-One motors , Mathura Road, ND.
Tata has a notorious habit of using end customers as guinea pigs instead of first testing their products in R&D labs.
The new TDI had inherent problems from the Day One:
-1st week itself , the car refused to start. Was there in workshop for 3days. The fuel filter had to be replaced. Folks at A-One motors, Mathura Road blamed it on Purlator. The problem got rectified after that.
- 6 months later , problem with AC. It used to switch/cut off automatically. Car was there in the servicxe centyer for 2 days
-After 10 months, problem with Clutch, (12, 000km) Some major component replaced. I had an esteem earlier there was no problem with clutchplates for 1, 25, 000km. The service center told me that this is a known problem and has happened in some Tata Indigos( Lucky Me!!!)
- After 1 year , again starting problem. This time I was on a highway on my way to Manesar. I just stopped at a red light and after that the car refused to start. This had happened earlier also quite a number of time, but I had ignored. Because the car usually started in 3-4 selfs .
Filter/Fuel pump was again sent to manufacturer. Car in service center for 2 days.
Luckily no problem from last 5-6 months.
The only thing I like is space inside as compared to rest of the cars. I also admire the pickup of TDI engine on highways.
But Overall Unhappy.
Will not recomend this product. Lot of problems in TDI engines. Even dealers/service centers acknowledge this problem with TDI
Invest your precious money in some better diesel car (Ford fiesta, Hyundai CRDI, Verna CRDI)

I hate blogging. But Tata Motors forces me to do this, Specially writing flithy about something which is dear to your heart.
Its almost 2 years now since I own a Indigo TDI and done 28, 000 kms. And this time its something called Heating coil.
One fine day after I got my service done from Tuli Motors, Raja Garden, New Delhi, I realized that there is some leakage near the clutch pedal. I took it immediately back to Tuli motors. It took them two days to analyze that it is Heating Coil which is the culprit. They themselves acknowledge that this is a manufacturing fault. But since the company waranty has expired(18 months) , I may have to pay by my own.
I do own an extended warantty, but since I delayed on one service (at 25K), I may not get paid. Unlucky Me!!!
So guys here is the list of replacements that have been done uptil now
Fuel Pump: After 1 month of purchase
Clutch Plates: After 1 year of purchase
Heating Coil: After 2 years
And many more to go. ...
I am really a frustrated customer. I would love to drag these people (Tata Motors) to court for their sub standard product.
There are lot of my friends and colleagues in the software industry facing similar problems with all Tata vehicles even Tata Safari.
Trust the advice of a frustrated owner. Dont even think ...

The misery continues.....................
For last 2 weeks I again started facing problem with clutch. It got losenned up on its own and it become extremely difficult to change the gear.
I go to the Service station and here comes the bouncer....
As per them the clutch plates are gone and needs a replacement . I had no other choice so spent around 5k on this.
Consider the fact that I have done only 38k KM and that too in 2.5 yrs and this is asking for a clutch replacement second time in 2.5 years. First time it was covered in company warranty.
Till date I have spent around 10K on repairs and this doenot includes parts which got replaced free of cost during waranty .
here is the list of replacements that have been done uptil now
Fuel Pump: After 1 month of purchase
Clutch Plates: After 1 year of purchase
Heating Coil: After 2 years
Clutch Plates : after 2.5 yrs , 38000 km
My sincere advice to all my friends and colleagues (at least there I would get listened to) dont buy a tata motors product and volunteer for becoming a guinea pig
