Well, the name says it all. The Tata Indigo is a car specially made for the Indian conditions, both on road & on price & economy. Tata has alwyas taken up Herculian tasks. Their efforts also include the aim to make a 1 lakh car.Such a dedicated car company came up with the Indica which made the other companies run for sales. The next project in Tatas workshop was surely to hit the mid segment. To compete with existing superhit cars like Ikon & Accent, this task wasnt going to be easy. Tata Motors decided to reduce on costs.
About the car...
The Indigo, which looks very much like its hatchback version, Indica, is powered by a 1.4 liter engine. Giving a power of 86 PS( for the petrol version) & 63 PS ( for the diesel version), this car proves to be serious competition witht the Ikon Flair 1.3 which gives only 70. The pricing, is breathtaking. The Indigo comes at a price of only 4.3 lakhs in comparison to the Ikon which costs 5 lakhs. The braking is good & the handling is smooth. It has a capacity of 42 litres. The interiors are normal. Not very comfortable, I would say.
At the Market...
The car has shown its potential already. This car topped the sales of the mid size segment in 2004. It is expected to sell even better on the long run.
Styling...
As I said, there is not much styling done specially for this car. Its an Indigo with a boot.
The clear headlamps, however, add on to the elegance of this car.
