Its been 2 years since we are using Tata sky, the starting wasn’t great but until the halfway, we got what we paid for. Don’t worry, I am not talking this in reference to the service or the product, actually we bought it just before the Cricket World Cup 2007, and you know that India were out in the very first round, so, a sad start.
But not as far as the service and the product is concerned, the day it was installed was, I must say a real testing day for the dish it self and also for the set top box, because when the tata sky guys were installing the dish, it was very very windy, and when they were done.
Everything was fine, and than in the evening, there thunderstorms, heavy rain and also the hailstones for around 10-15 minutes and that too quite heavily, but tata sky didn’t get affected, a bit, whereas the cable, well with the first drop of rain, our cable guy used to stop the channels, but from the day we are using sky service, I must say we are very much satisfied.
The Picture Quality: The best I have seen so far, let it be Big TV, or Dish TV, my elder brother is havin Airtel Digi Tv @ shop, and he says that Tata is even better than Airtel, and I must say that its the Sky’s technology that is way above the others.
Sound: Pure digital
Functions : It hardly took us all just about 3-4 day to get used to it, it is so easy to use that even kids can use it with ease while playing games.The Menu : Best part is the menu, precisely etched.And we haven;t yet tried any movie on the showcase.Per month expenses are 300 for the basic package + 15 rs for Ten Sports + 35rs for NDTV Imagine and colors, + 35 For Sports pack + 30 for Neo Sports, so it costs us around 450 per month, whereas the cable costs around 200, so its on higher end but when it comes to quality.
I guess we are happy spending 450 bucks rather than spending 200 and than the cable strikes, the Kundi system is India is common, light problems, no picture clarity, no sound clarity, nothing, and when the repair goes, the channel are dead for about 2-3 days.
The Remote is what I feel the only negative or the lighter side of tata sky, its quite big, and we already faced the problems with first remote and have changed it, but the 2nd one is also having problems as sometimes it stops functioning properly.
The Set Top box used to hang when it was new, and we had to unplug it to run it properly, but it is fine nw and I guess it hadn’t gv us any problem since thenThe Top Up: Well, easy, very easy as I recharge it online using vouche, just a 2 minute process.

Customer Care: Well, problems started after 30 days, when one of the channels that was Zee Classic was stopped, as it was 24 hr Old muvi channel with only one break in 1 movie, so my mom, dad and elder brother were very annoyed when the channel was un aired, and when we called Tata sky, they kept us waiting, sometimes they used to use maska as well by saying that it’ll be soon Aired, but it wasn’t.
They kept us @ bay for about 20 days and finally committed that it won’t be a part of Tata sky ever as it is t he channel of their rival Dish TV, and Dish TV has taken back the rights, and no one else apart from Dish itself can Air Zee Classic.Over all I would definitely recommend u to go for Tata Sky, coz their are cheap packages available as well.But let me finish the story which I left above, it turned out to be good when India won the T-20 World cup later that year.
