In September 2011, 3 Malayalam Channels were deleted from the package. A lot of my friends from Kerala have subscribed for the South Pack or the South Jumbo Pack. Another subscriber, on calling customer care to complain about the deletion, was told that no one else complained! When I called, they said that since they were adding HD channels that take more bandwidth, the had to take a "hard decision" to delete channels from south regional channels.
I then wrote to the customer care email address, asking why this deletion was done without informing the customer. They write back with a funny message - "Sorry, we cannot add the three Malayalam channels you have requested, as we are not airing these channels any more." Where is the question of adding these channels when I had subscribed and paid for viewing these channels! I also informed them that having taken the subscription money upfront, they have to inform subscribers if any channels have to be deleted.
Two days ago, they have added some Bengali channels and have shifted the Malayalam channels to other numbers. They have earlier added some channels that air between 3:00 AM and 9:00 AM, when everybody is asleep.
I am starting a campaign on newspaper and on the internet to get enough signatures to file a case against Tata Sky. They cannot get away with cheating all the subscribers who watch the deleted channels. The money that they taken as subscription from all these subscribers will add up to quite an amount!
I have decided to stop using Tata Sky.
